I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company was founded by and is still run by an engineer, so the products are leading edge. If that was all you needed to have long term success we'd be in great shape. Unfortunately....

    Cons

CEO and his close advisers, i.e. yes men, don't have a clue how to run a large organization. The company has outgrown them. I've been with the company for several years and made it through the most recent layoffs, but I won't be staying here for long. Upper management refuses to listen to competent industry experts. That's why you've seen two CMO's leave in a matter of 18 months.

    Advice to Management

Replace Ken immediately or sell the company, otherwise Fortinet is going to fail. There's a reason that Palo Alto is beating us with inferior technology...Ken Xie, CEO.

    Pros

Really aren't any. Very fragmented and confused management. Never sure where they are headed. Very much the knee jerk effect

    Cons

Poorly managed. Just had a layoff. Fired a guy who was in the middle of cancer treatments. Who would want to work for these guys. I couldn't believe it. But they got away with it because they had a downsizing. They knew he was sick.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together. Act like an American forward moving company.

    Pros

Good salary offered with benefits when you accept offer from them. That's all.

    Cons

    Not sure where to start
    1. One of the most poor management ever worked before. Very poor vision about future plans. Some teams develop product in trial and error manner. Some of the team management, absolutely have no sense of responsibility and just are interested in blaming employees for poor decision taken by them(management).
    2. As mentioned in some other reviews, Employees are indeed treated as disposable tools. You are not appreciated for good work, but for sure will be humiliated for a small mistake. Yes, you heard right, HUMILIATED. Dictatorship is at peak in this company, with absolutely no value to employees.
    3. Management will consider the best performer as the star of the team. Others opinion is absolutely ignored.
    4. Your performance review meetings are Joke. Your positive attributes will be ridiculed and you would end up loosing self confidence and motivation to excel in your job.
    5. Sometimes, you are threatened to be fired from job for very petty reasons
Absolute no job security. No motivation from management.
work/life balance is totally unto you.
Career opportunities, compensations won't matter when culture is horrible.

    Advice to Management

We don't work under you, we work with you to make things better. So, start respecting your employees

I have been working at Fortinet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

R&D managers and directors are all hands-on people and technically skilled. They don't waste their time in endless meetings.
As an engineer who enjoy technologies, this is a great place to work.

    Cons

Not much team and fun activities

    Advice to Management

Be careful with your hiring process. Friend hiring friend is not a problem if the friend (new hire) knows what he's doing, is motivated and willing to learn. Hiring friend simply because he's a friend introduces unfair treatment in the team

    Pros

It's a job and they are hiring. The reason they hire is there is a lot of employee turnover.

    Cons

Was slow in paying commissions. Lack of customer support.

    Advice to Management

Stop managing like the company is located in China.

    I worked at Fortinet full-time

    Pros

A decent company when looking from outside.

    Cons

You will feel like you are in a hell, if you're not from china or if you don't know Mandarin. Most of the positive reviews you see here are coming from Chinese employees (if fact they are right, because the company is very comfortable if you're Chinese).
Favoritism, poor company culture, many employees don't speak in English.
