    I worked at FortisBC (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    People are great and atmosphere is good, the company do try to make a difference to employees and the communities it touches.

    Cons

    Trying to get any training is near on impossible, the company always appears to be on the back foot and there is never any time, even though budget is allocated for training you never get chance to use it.

    company looks at all employees as a number. lots of layoffs.

    Very small groups of employees, and not much collaboration.

    I worked at FortisBC as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Started off as part-time and was very flexible
    - learnt a lot working with other departments
    - at an entry level position, it set the bar quite high in terms of compensation and benefits and made it a bit more difficult to leave

    Cons

    - limited room for growth in some departments
    - repetitive tasks
    - too much gossip between departments
    - management can play favourites
    - no accountability, everyone plays the 'wasn't me' game
