I have been working at Fortna full-time

    Pros

Results oriented organization that truly does right for the Client. They put skin the game and hold themselves to it. Employees are dedicated to the mission and management is helps provide the path to achieve that mission.

    Cons

Change is something that either comes quick or not at all.

I have been working at Fortna part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Personal and career growth opportunities are always available, support and encouragement from management is fantastic, great co-workers, fantastic benefits and compensation, culture that matches my philosophies perfectly. Fortna has allowed me to truly enjoy doing what I love - I never feel like I'm going to work - I do what I love and am passionate about every day and am so valued for doing it. You couldn't work for a better company!

    Cons

Honestly, in twelve years, I have never had a "downside" to working at Fortna. This may seem unrealistic, but it's been my reality. And after 12 years, it just keeps getting better! The possibilities are endless in developing the career life you want to have.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management - Just don't ever change! Management is so supportive, encouraging, with mentoring that brings you to heights you never thought you could reach. My manager puts my well-being before her own. She has been such a fabulous mentor and coach over the years, as has Executive Leadership, other managers throughout the company and my co-workers. I truly love my job and working for Fortna.

    I worked at Fortna full-time

    Pros

Most people there are friendly and easy to work with.
    Ability to work from home.

    Cons

Very top heavy and like to micromanage. Hire you for your experience and knowledge and then tell you what to do instead of listening to what needs to be done. Unrealistic goals and timelines and not enough resources or budget to achieve. Your not allowed to have an opinion other than theirs or your labeled. Morale is at all time low.

    Advice to Management

Trust the people you hire and stop micromanaging. Don't just hire Yes men, hire and retain individuals that aren't looking to keep things as they are but to move the company where it needs to be CORRECTLY to be able to handle the global market it's trying to break into. Your strategic moves are having a negative impact. Dont just focus on one area. Your foundation is crumbling and will not be able support the efforts you have been relocating money too.

I have been working at Fortna full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good companies as clients, good people to work with, industry experts, pay and benefits are above average.

    Cons

Projects consume your life here. No personal time; expect nights and weekends. Limited budgets and resources at times so you must take up the slack by working almost non stop. Lots of processes but not always followed. Top heavy company; to many managers. CEO micromanages and is known to be condescending and dresses people down. People are afraid to be honest with him. Company has been putting in a career planning structure but managers not held accountable to have career discussions or work career issues with employees. Layoffs this year have caused morale to be low. People keep their heads down and try not to attract attention.

    Advice to Management

Have more discipline around sustaining processes. Require managers to interact with their people; ie. career management and constant performance feedback. While there is a lot of communication still not sure how the company will grow again after stalling the last 2 years. Leadership team needs to be more collaborative with all employees. Need to see more of you.

I worked at Fortna full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting, challenging work, well qualified and dedicated people

    Cons

No control over critical work parameters (budget, schedule). You have to take what is given to you, and are expected to make it work, no matter how much extra time you have to put into it. There is no way to complete the work in the allotted time or schedule so a lot of time is on weekends and is expected.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to brag about your processes, then stick to them. Tell your managers to guide, not micromanage. Let the people that are going to do the work have some autonomy and input into the scope, deliverables, schedule and budget.
