I have been working at Forward Air part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great work environment Strong teamwork mentality Management that cares about you as a person, not just as an employee Competitive pay and pay increase structure (even for part time)

    Cons

The work can be physically taxing Hours can be long (pro if you need the $$) Other terminals (Columbus) seem to care less about how freight is shipped to you

    Advice to Management

Step up quality management among all terminals, including your hubs. I have seen so much inventory senselessly destroyed because of cut corners on the loading of trailers.

I worked at Forward Air full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great Freight Lanes and plenty of work

    Cons

All freight ran overnight and the Truck Is paid very low rates. Hard to make a good living working for them.

    Advice to Management

Change how loads are dispatched and Pay adequate rates so owner operators can survive working for your company at least $ 1.50 to 1.85 per mile.

I have been working at Forward Air full-time for more than a year

    Pros

DROP AND HOOK AT TERMINALS DOES NOT HAVE TO GO TO CUSTOMERS

    Cons

We came to Forward Air as Team Owner Operators We talk to company Recruiters they said about 5000 to 6000 miles per week with good home time policy but a lot of times we have to sit at terminals for waiting on Freight and not getting enough miles when we call Dispatchers they said doesn't have freight for Long Haul because Team Drivers...

    Advice to Management

Get some good Freight Lane Planners and Dispatchers who understand Drivers What they want?Don't Promise Team Owner Owner Operators which is not Realistic.Don't make fake promises. Some of your trailers are very bad.

I have been working at Forward Air full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are paid weekly, have decent benefits, and have the option to purchase stock after a year at a discount. Your insurance is good for a month if you leave around the first of the month. If you leave close to the end, you lose it at the end of the month. So, if you are planning on leaving, do it at the 1st of the month.

    Cons

This is for the Solutions side. If you are interested in working here, run in the opposite direction. Upper management has no clue about ethics, integrity, or conflict resolution. The operations are filthy, (graveyard of trucks, broken toilets, and piles of broken pallets) and the company only wants non degree types for management. No training for outside folks. One poster had mentioned that FAS was using non-English...

    Advice to Management

Work on conflict resolution. Increase audits and hire professionals to run the company. Start leadership training.

I worked at Forward Air full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some nice people work there who are willing to help. Really cool workers.

    Cons

No one from the office seems to actually be out on the dock and see what actually happens. Most people place more freight on the contractor drivers and offer no help to them at all, only a select few people know where the freight is located at, if you need to go to the restroom you need to get a card key to be let out. Everything is...

    Advice to Management

for marketing for limited why not get some kind of basket with wheels on it to put all the big posters and marketing for a specific route in so it's not a mess and everyone knows where the marketing is. Also before you go about getting more companies, make sure you have enough room in the warehouse before you sign the contract.
