I worked at Founders Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employees are amazing, and open to assisting new employees.

    Cons

You are expected to manage over 300 claims correct - OVER WORKED.Managers are very defensive, cold and have no empathy. They offer salary but if you call in sick or have to leave early, they dock your pay. Majority are minority single mothers that barely see their families, over worked, have break downs at their desk because of the work load! Temps came into the office and learned they made almost $15,000 over the MINORITY SINGLE MOTHERS!

    Advice to Management

Learn to appreciate your employees instead of running them into the ground!

I worked at Founders Insurance part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Pay, Great People. Friendly atmosphere. No micro-managing.

    Cons

Business relies on the economy. If the economy is really bad, you may get laid off, like I did.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work.

    Pros

The company had a nice almost family feel to it. Most everyone knew each other etc. With a local long time management team, the company enjoyed great relationships with business partners.

    Cons

The company was purchased in late 2010 and hasn't been the same. Old story. Big company buys smaller company for many attractive qualities and begins dismantling and or changing what they bought. It's no longer the same place and their results seem to showing some displeasure with those changes.

    Advice to Management

Consider that what works somewhere else, may not be the best formula here.

    Pros

If you are just starting out as a developer this is a good place to gain experience. You will learn N-Tier architecture

    Cons

An experienced developer will not find much to keep him/her here. They are still using 2.0 framework and you will get permanently attached to a project. The pay rate is about 20% below market rate.

    Advice to Management

Keep the programming tools up to date and try harder to keep senior devs engaged.

You have the option to move around. The majority of managers were really knowledgeable. Great medical insurance coverage.

    Cons

The pay is horrible, and the company goals are impossible to meet unless you are willing to work 50 hours.

    Advice to Management

Don't ask someone to do something you can't.
