I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have worked at Four Seasons for over a year, and the change I've seen in this time has been phenomenal. The organisation is working as a whole to ensure that everyone does their upmost to make a difference to residents, relatives and employees across the board.

    Keep it up!

    Cons

Sometimes some of the language on the materials produced can be confusing - but this is being looked in to which will have a further impact in the future.

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I would love to say that at present i am working two rolls as care assistant and giving training sessions through my job as Dignity & Values Champion.I am going to be totally honest and say so far i have had fantastic support from head office and my own manager doing this new roll. The press seems to have more negative about the care industry sometimes and i am hoping that the work i do can improve the perception in some eyes to what we give and there needs to be which i see a new training regime through Dignity & Values training. Head office is somewhere i found i love for the people i met including a director i love for her kindness and support.I hope i get continued support in a job i love and feeling passionate about making people happy to impact on those around them and who you care for.

    Cons

    No negatives at the moment.

    Advice to Management

There are staff in homes who are caring and kind i see.Hope and wish they are remembered.

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Having worked for Four Seasons Healthcare for over 10 years in various roles and still currently employed as Clinical Lead Nurse (Registered Adult Nurse) in one of their Care Homes in the north west, looking back to where the company was 10 years ago to where it is now, there have certainly been significant changes and that for the better, I can positively say the improvements of Four Seasons started from the arrival of Tim Hammond CEO. We have our very own Head of Nursing who puts nursing and patients at the heart of everything she does which me as a nurse that works on the floor is very motivating that we as nurses are all aiming for one goal and have a voice. Nursing within a Four Seasons care home is very challenging, however hand on heart, it’s the best feeling ever….rewarding is an understatement. These residents are your extended family and the care provided is up to you as a nurse, you have the opportunity to make a difference to people life’s, you lead the good nursing practice, you implement evidence base nursing practice, you lead initiatives. There are many misconceptions about care home nursing, you will lose your skills and they are places for nurses to retire. Certainly not true, I have probably learnt more than I possibly would have done on a general ward working autonomously making my own nursing practice and decision making skills. Since qualifying 3 years ago, I have undertaken the Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification, Mentorship programme accredited by a university, awarded an RCN scholarship for post graduate study. Not all care homes are the same and it would be wrong of me to say they are all perfect but what I can say is that as a nurse don’t look at the negatives, have the motivation and determination to change these negatives to positives….its what we as nurses trained to do….to improve patient outcomes….this can be done….just like I did, the care home I work at went from having its issues to being a flag ship of the area and being the first care home in the area to accept student nurses.
Four Seasons has its own “Care Home Nursing Journal” (CNJ) which is published quarterly and contains nursing journals and articles developed by nurses within the group and external authors. There is opportunity to write your very own article with support from the Research Co-ordinator who is very helpful on a topic of your choice to share knowledge and evidence base practice.
Working hours are flexible and management are accommodating.
The company offers a great preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses and have recently developed a nurse academy that is in its early stages of development.

    Cons

Wages need to be fair for nurses across the board – each home pays differently

    Advice to Management

Lack of clinical skills training such as venepuncture – the company need to look at online booking system within the group for staff to book training, there needs to be a continuous roll of training for all staff to obtain the skills and maintain these.

E-learning needs to contain more nursing theory courses such as ANTT.

Lack of career opportunities for nurses that want to further their careers.

Documentation still paper any thoughts on electronic care planning systems

I have been working at Four Seasons Health Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I get the space to deliver solutions which make people's jobs easier. Providing I can prove outcomes, the senior teams back me 100% in delivering new projects. Tim Hammond, CEO, is energetic and enthuses the teams to deliver greater standards of care. There are lots of opportunities for internal promotion.

    Cons

Going forward, I would like to see more barriers broken down and a move towards a national team.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage greater cross-departmental working

Flexible choice of hours if you have children under school age or are pregnant

To many agency workers that don't know the residence or routine
