    Good place to work

Nov 17, 2022 - Food and Beverage Attendant

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - good pay - decent benefits for FT and PT employees - polite guests - providing exceptional service - accommodating management - caring HR - great co-workers

    Cons

    - sometimes you can get really demanding and rude guests - if you are On-Call the benefits are non-existent, which is frustrating and disappointing. For example, you may be expected to work on holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, NY, etc), but you won't receive any additional pay beyond your normal rate. Most companies I have worked for will provide time and a half or even double pay for working on a public holiday. It is unusual that a company like Four Seasons does not do this for it's On-Call employees (especially those working full-time hours). - Simply, stated unless you really need the money, being On-Call is not worth it and don't give up your holidays for the company as an On-Call. FT/PT employees get paid whether work or not on a holiday. So if they work they get paid double, if they don't they get paid for 8hours of not working. - expectations of when and how much to work can be frustrating and not allow for that work-life balance. That being said if you need to work, then work. You will get paid well, but also communicate to management that you want to be a Full-Time employee with FT benefits. FT is great! But if you don't need the money then being On-Call in this outlet as a F&B Attendant may not be worth it. In other departments, like Banquets, it's worth it. Compensation, asks from management, and the job itself are great!

Decent Company Culture, Good Benefits but Long Hours

    Sep 27, 2022 - SPA Coordinator

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Overall, decent company culture. Four Seasons take pride in creating unique experiences for guests and encourages staff to genuinely connect with hotel guests. While uniform and guidelines on guest interaction is taken seriously, Four Seasons is also very big on creating genuine experiences and genuine connections between hotel staff and hotel guests. FS encourages staff to shine in their own way by going above and beyond (but within guidelines). Excellent benefits such as 401K, medical benefits, disability benefits, and there is always room to grow / move upwards within the company if you truly work hard and focus on guests. FS is big on transferring staff to their different locations all over the world and they also offer hotel experiences and discounts to their employees so staff can truly experience FS as a guest which is really exciting!

    Cons

Long hours and pretty strict standards for employees. After all, it is the hospitality industry and one of the top / best hotels in the world.

    Great Staff and Benefits

    Pros

The health insurance is pretty good and can include dental, and the staff is quite warm, welcoming and understanding. Travel benefits are also given to employees, as well as restaurant discounts and an employee cafeteria.

    Cons

I think that the hostesses should be tipped out more, and could just be paid more in general, as it is a far more demanding job than it may seem on the surface. Management could also improve, the turnover rate was not good.

    Overall good place to work

    Jul 16, 2022 - Concierge

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great benefits, cash tips, pooled general cash tips plus commission. Opportunity to try all activities you provide to guests. The company itself provided really good health benefits, laundered uniform, lunch is provided and paid for, and you always have the opportunity to learn more or help other properties or departments

    Cons

It feel like the qualifications they apply to managers is inconsistent. While they say they prefer to promote within it seems as if it's more who you know than what you know or can bring to the team. Rather than promoting employees with over 5+ years of department on the job experience , they will hire someone outside of the company with no experience but a BA in a field completely irrelevant to the job. They value having a degree no mater what it's in than teaching those who have been with the department for years just because their is no degree. It's impossible to balance a family or person life. While I don't mind the overtime, even though you may be scheduled to be off at a specific time rarely do you get off on time. This job would be extremely hard for single parent or parents with younger children.
