I have been working at Fox Chase Cancer Center part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fox Chase has attracted an excellent research faculty who offer collaboration opportunities and mentoring to developing scientists

    Cons

It is a small institute and interests must align with the research focus in oncology

I worked at Fox Chase Cancer Center full-time

    Pros

Worked with a lot of great people. Medical benefits and PTO were great. A lot of opportunities to learn because it is such a small group working in the Office of Clinical Research.

    Cons

Work loads for most people were extremely high with no compenstation. A lot of nurses worked overtime but received no compensation. Upper management gave the impression that you were easily replaceable if you didn't like how things were being run.

I have been working at Fox Chase Cancer Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Highly collaborative, helpful facilities, excellent daycare for children of employees, open dialogue between clinicians and researchers, great mentoring for trainees and young faculty

    Cons

A lot of red tape for approval of equipment maintenance contracts, difficult ordering system, no retirement matching for trainees, campus far from Center City

    Advice to Management

Please reduce red tape and offer trainees retirement benefits. Health care benefits are excellent, but please modify maternity leave policies so that sick/vacation/personal time is not exhausted

    Advice to Management

    Hire younger management professional

I have been working at Fox Chase Cancer Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent place to come to work everyday. Healthy work environment and because the research and healthcare are integrated it is a very fulfilling job. Overall I'd give it 5 stars if the salaries weren't so low. Excellent benefits packages and a tuition remission program through Temple University that cannot be beat.

    Cons

low salary. getting a substantial raise is hard to do at this place as it is a non-profit and most research is grant funded.
