I worked at Foxconn full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Traveled to China and Taiwan. Got to see another art of the world. Good benefits.

    Cons

After working all day, needed to work with China a couple of hours most nights. Not much room to grow. Spent my whole time there in the same job.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Foxconn full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good place to learn hands-on about manufacturing and consumer electronics Plenty of opportunities for business travel (almost exclusively to China, see Con) Top CM in the world, good exposure to clients (Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.) and building professional network

    Cons

Big-company bureaucracy often counter-productive, wears out people Frequent travel to industrial cities in China not everyone's cup of tea Depends on business unit/team, compensation might fall below expectation

    Advice to Management

Allow some flexibility in management so employees can be more productive Be more competitive in compensation to attract/retain more talents Improve the company culture so it's now always "customers first" (this burns out a lot of people)

I worked at Foxconn full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

For those who needs H-1B sponsorship will be glad to apply here, as the company will provide sponsorship. A great place to get on the job training and move on to a better paying company later on.

    Cons

Okay let's break it down by department that way anyone that wishes to apply can get a good picture of what they are in for: 1) HR department - very difficult to locate the manager in the morning. a. There is no privacy when talking to HR as everyone around the cubicles can hear your personal business. b. Expect everyone's starting time around 8:30 am - 7 pm. People usually takes 1.5 hours for lunch since no one...

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings, and provide a decent salary to retain talent. This is not China, and that way of sweatshop management style will not work here.

    Cons

Extremely poor salary compensation with no no salary raises. Management is extremely disorganized and undisciplined. Very hostile work environment.

I worked at Foxconn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Ok as a first job. Exposure to different projects means plenty of opportunities to learn. Being an OEM, job security is pretty stable, especially when projects enter mass production stage. Medical, dental, and vision coverage and 401k with company match. Very lax dress code.

    Cons

Below average salary with almost zero chance of getting a raise. Working hours are long (OT and weekend shifts almost guaranteed). Outdated equipment used to manufacture units, leading to poor quality and more headaches at the test line. Experienced engineers seem to leave every month for greener pastures, leaving inexperienced new grads to take over and inevitably fall on their faces. Managers encourage finger pointing...

    Advice to Management

Make better efforts to retain your experienced employees. A lot of these projects find themselves in these serious holes because you always lose the main engineer who knows the ins and outs of the product. Expecting new grads to pick up on 3 years of knowledge in 2 weeks is ridiculous. Reward those who are willing to work 12 hour days for you instead of taking advantage of them.
