    Avoid US based position

Oct 21, 2020 - Senior Consultant in Chicago, IL

    Pros

    - Company has a great focus in learning and developing employees through multiple training programs. Most of the trainings are done through external education partners - that really shows company's commitment and investment towards learning - Great company for freshers - Visionary founders - Decent pay structure in US, not sure about India/ other locations - HR dept in US was initially weak but new HR is putting a lot of effort in responding to employee issues-- I think this was a long time ask by US team, that has finally being resolved

    Cons

    - Company is in a crucial transformation stage. With loads of things happening in AI/ ML space in developed markets like US, company still needs to do a lot in transforming leadership/ culture in some accounts. Issues like these are real bottlenecks and to be blamed for stagnancy - I left the company due to toxic environment and leader in a particular account is simply to be blamed for all the attrition in the US based team. Most of the people in this team are simply leaving or switching teams. Not sure, why top management is still holding such project managers and avoid taking any strict action. Fractal is known for it's great culture, but after working in this particular project and with project manager, by trust towards the company broke and I finally left the company. I loved the work and vision of the company, but I simply left due to toxic culture created in my team.

Stop avoiding Red flags and act soon

Apr 11, 2021 - Senior Consultant in San Francisco, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - If you are lucky to find a good team and challenging project, there is massive opportunity for learning and improving your skills - Some people are extremely helpful and genuinely care for their team mates. They will go out of their way to make sure juniors or peers have someone to talk to and guide or help in their day to day work - Flexibility if you land up in a right team. You can decide your work timings and schedule as long as you don’t affect the deliverable schedule - Fair compensation

    Cons

    - Most of the work done is related to reporting with very little learning. Once you are mapped to a long term project, it will be almost impossible to move out to other projects where you will learn more. This has led to many feeling stuck in their roles or without growth opportunities - Many folks who have grown to leadership positions, have no real problem solving skills. They will mostly force fit any existing solution or copy paste slides even if they make no sense whatsoever - Most of the leadership doesn’t care about the growth of their team. It is a helpless situation for folks who have ambitions to grow and most of the times they are left with no option but to look outside for opportunities - Having worked at both big companies and start ups, I am extremely confused about the so called Fractal culture. While they are by no means a big firm, they act like one and claim to have a ‘people friendly culture’ which is not true - Most of the leadership is completely blinded by power and money. They literally act like they own you and your entire life. They will schedule random calls/ work on Weekend nights without even having the courtesy to check or request for availability and expect 100% compliance to every demand they make however unreasonable - The leadership in general doesn’t have a good understanding of people management. There is a lack of sensitivity to the fact that you work with people and not robots who can keep working for 18 hours at a stretch. In case you voice your concerns they will either justify their actions (client first) or making veiled threats - There is a lack of diversity in the company and many are even oblivious to the fact that certain actions make your team mates feel unsafe or amount to micro aggressions at work. For a global company, this is totally unacceptable and needs to be first acknowledged and then addressed- both of which will never happen under the HR team who believe there is never a problem - All of the above points and the high headed behavior by many in the leadership has led to massive attrition especially within long term Fractalities. The company has not even attempted to retain many of these folks, which is surprising given the people centric claim they make

    Not a bad place

    Pros

Been here a few years and have enjoyed the most of the time since I have been here. There has been plenty of growth and there seems to be an upward climb with recruitment. This is the first place I have worked where you have what they call "People Principles". I think this is a good motto to have as long as people do not take advantage of it and it seems as if the employees really seem to like this about Fractal.

    Cons

What is most frustrating is the salary base and lack of meeting deadlines. It is most frustrating when you may be asked for something; especially when the impression it is urgent, but then only realize after fulfilling this request it not utilized as quickly as it had appeared. Decision making takes way to long or maybe that there are to many opinions that need to be considered before a decision can be made. There are way too many surveys as we are so inundated there is no time for so many surveys. Also many of these survey do not apply to administration staff and will not let you get around those questions unless they are all answered.

    Pros

Analytics is a high growth industry that is very exciting with lots of innovation. Fractal encourages people to step outside the box and consider new ways of doing everything. We are working on process improvements in every aspect of the company and it's fun to watch the evolution. Everyone is so nice and considerate and helps each other to learn and grow. When other companies are downsizing, this one is moving up, way up and FAST!

    Cons

Rapid growth with lots of process improvements so things are getting better quickly and people need to be flexible and agile to keep up.

    Culture, Client-centricity and Capabilities

May 3, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Emeryville, CA

    Pros

Energetic group that loves problem solving. Very high client satisfaction - NPS 50+ Clients are enthusiastic supporters and it's heart-warming to see team mate praises in testimonials (on website). Clients and Fractalites appreciate our people-centric culture (freedom, flexibility, accountability), and mix of products/custom services. Fast growing and strong future. Highly ethical and transparent.

    Cons

Collaborating across multiple time zones - working both early and late. Millennials don't have enough experience to fully appreciate how amazing the progressive culture really is. A small proportion complain without understanding the big picture business context (which goes against our people principles of putting clients, Fractal, and team ahead of self-interest).

    - Company in a crucial transformative stage and its exciting to be a part of this change. Industry is rapidly evolving and the leadership is focused on making sure Fractal stays relevant and develop into a leader in Analytics - Policy flip flops have reduced over the last 12-18 months - Good focus on training and development

    Cons

Lack of experience in handling larger programs need to be addressed, I see it as the biggest risk in Fractal's transformation

    Pros

Fractal has outstanding people, both in the USA and offshore locations. This talent will only grow, enabling Fractal to stay relevant and grow in the analytics space. There is a true entrepreneurial feel and excitement within the company.

    Cons

Having originated in India, there is an offshore-centric vibe and work culture that exists at the company. Overcoming this will help Fractal grow even further.
