I have been working at Francisco Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Intellectually challenging environment in the fast paced tech sector. A real meritocracy with actually nice people.

    Cons

The hours can be very long and your schedule will be predictably unpredictable, making it hard to plan non work related activities.

    Advice to Management

Consider ways to help people protect their extracurricular commitments, and keep doing what you are doing.

I worked at Francisco Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Apparently an amazing PR firm and/or legal representation which can fool and blindside even the most diligent, honest, genuine business owners

    Cons

FP claims to be different from other private equity firms. They sell an image of a firm that embraces quality employees and quality products, and enables both to achieve scalability. While they do identify ways to "scale", they DO NOT embrace quality emoloyees or quality product. In my experience, they took a unique company and applied off the shelf scalability that resulted in loss of talented, loyal emoloyees as well as degradation of product quality.

If you work for a company that is being evaluated by FP, or has been purchased by FP, update your resume and prepare to get out.

If you own a company that is being evaluated by FP, and if your employees and/or the integrity or spirit of your product are important to you, please, please, PLEASE reconsider.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate and scrutinize your operating partners more accurately. You have at least one operating partner who makes decisions that are ultimately detrimental to the businesses in which you invest. The opinion of the partner(s) not only dictates his impact on the companies you buy, but the opinions of consultants and eventual employees who shape your investments going forward.
You (FP) currently own at least one company that could have performed beyond your wildest expectations, had decisions made by at least one of your operating partners, followed by those of newly hired executives, been accurately evaluated.
