I worked at Franz Family Bakery (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent people, union job with some benefits

    Cons

Low pay in outlet stores, even for promotions

    Advice to Management

Compete in pay if you want to keep employees

I have been working at Franz Family Bakery full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Money is the only pro.

    Cons

Management is completely disconnected from their sales representatives. They say we are salesmen yet implement policies that hinder our ability to expand growth with customers. Supervisors are hired to micromanage and belittle the salesmen. Do not ever expect to receive any positive reinforcement, the only time management talks to you is to complain about problems they see in your work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Change the culture in your company. It is 2017 not 1950, you cannot treat employees like pawns on a board and expect exceptional work.

I have been working at Franz Family Bakery full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good union pay, supportive team mates when your learning a new area, supervisors who will let you know how you are doing, and numerous learning opportunities.

    Cons

Long weeks, often with only 1 or 2 days off a week. Sometimes only 2-3 days off a month.
Seniority dictates what days you get off, and overtime is offered to those with tenure first vs. the guy who wants it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at Franz Family Bakery (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent pay and amazing medical. The co workers at our level are amazing. Likes to be competitive in the market to grab sales markets.

    Cons

Extremely poor communication, over worked employees on the road with no changes in sales operations or route changes and empty promises to their drivers. At times seem to be vengeful towards current employees.

    Advice to Management

Have weekly meetings with sales people instead of finding information that day or past due that is important. Expand your employment to relieve hours to your drivers which would help us concentrate more on our markets to expand Sales. Don't make promises and take them back, you offered weekends off you need to keep it and try it longer to see if it works. Instead of throwing your hands up and say oh well. Killed moral in the depots.

    Pros

Very pleasant team to work with. Looked forward to going into the office every day. Pay was competitive. Requests were manageable. Enough to do each day to keep busy, but also maintain your sanity. Some days in the office were quiet because the team regularly travels to visit bakery locations.

    Cons

Parking can be tricky if you don't purchase a parking permit. There is an employee lot, but it gets full pretty early in the day.

I have been working at Franz Family Bakery full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay, store discount, paid weekly. ( hr will tell you the bottom pay, but they are desperate for experienced , so request more money )

    Cons

With a plant that basically runs 24/7 ( weller street ), one would think the scheduler would figure out by now how to not give all employees split days off, and schedule them all 3 shifts to work in 1 week. None of us mind the hard work, but we have plenty enough people and management knows whats running, so its possible to schedule jobbers for the same shift, even if in a different department, all week. We can help you figure it out if you cant. The machi es are old, and not very safe. Every other company has a operator, and a machine. Here, you are the machine and will hand pack everything( especially doughnuts ) . There are a few nice people but lots of the people that have been there a long time are rude, stuck up, and not helpful at all. I know of 2 unions there, 117 and bakers local 9. Weird though, no shop stewards to be found. So many people that are good workers quit due to scheduling, not the jobs.

    Advice to Management

You have enough people to not split everyones days off. If you want to keep good workers and not have to hire weekly, fix the schedule, it is possible ( with someone whos competent doing the job ). Then you would rarely have to hire. Hire maintenance that can fix things, and have full time round the clock sanitation teams ( you can afford it, and mold is growing in many places because they only get blown out, yuck ). If you invest money in your machines to run better you would have less injuries. Tons of people do not report because its always our fault , according to management

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are good!

    Cons

The big shots hire idiots to micro manage the employees because Thier afraid if they hired knowegable people Thier stupidity would be exposed. Having a work force that every employee hates their company is just flat out ignorant

    Advice to Management

    They couldn't care less!!!!

    Pros

    pretty much just the money

    Cons

poor management, don't fix problems just react to them. double standards and hypocrisy run ramped. not a job for a young family due to very long hours, split days off . been with the company a long time and it seems ti be getting worse about every aspect of the job

    Advice to Management

train your managers how to talk to your employees instead of insults, threats and lies.
