I have been working at Franziska Racker Centers full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Racker Centers is a great example of a mission driven organization with strong leadership and a clear vision. Though the agency is quite large, staff can still feel a sense of belonging as well as independence in their work. Benefits and vacation time are great.

    Cons

As a non-profit, they cannot match the higher salaries of schools or the state. Leadership in certain areas of the agency could be strengthened.

I have been working at Franziska Racker Centers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dedicated and caring staff and Team Directors. Good flex time for people with families and children.

    Cons

You cannot expect to be promoted into other positions through hard work, commitment and merit alone. It requires that you make the "favorites" list. They wonder why the turn over is so great and the annual state surveys shred their residential program. Often times, the Team Directors are teaching their own supervisors about the residential program but there is no compensation or acknowledgement. One person can do the work of three people but no promotion will be had if they aren't great pals with upper management. They will go as far as being manipulative to prevent Team Directors from advancing. First hand experience.

    Advice to Management

Team Directors are transferring to other departments and leaving the centers all together for this very reason. Take notice of your valuable, aspiring Team Directors while they are working hard right under your nose. It is a shame to lose your top shelf employees but if there isn't a change, this is what you can expect. If you have a Team Director who is noteworthy and successful in several areas - open your eyes!

    Pros

    Cons

Drama, lies, unconsisant, director very negative to employees and has favorites, director is sneaky, back stabbers, take hours away and changed time sheet without knowing till you get paid, etc

    Advice to Management

Get your crap together and treat your employees equally.

    Pros

The majority of the classroom staff and therapists! Staff are supportive of each other and give so much love and guidance to the children.

    Cons

The administrative staff were not supportive of the staff. Director was seldom in the classroom observing or interacting with children or staff. You only saw them if there was an issue. Not consistent with policies from one staff to another.

    Advice to Management

Support the staff on a regular basis. You need to include your staff in the agencies Circle of Caring! Look into retention rate as there is a correlation to administrative support.

I worked at Franziska Racker Centers (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The residents! They do pay time off if you can find time to take off. There's really no break even most of the time no time for lunch

    Cons

Management is poor. Lots of bullying allowed. Good hard working staff get booted out or burnt out and leave therefore there's a huge turn over rate (plus there is no appreciation for workers). Low pay/salary. Management favoritism. Management does not follow up or follow through. Many administration and management put on a show when there's family involvement. If the individual doesn't have family racker higher managers do not care. Etc...

    Advice to Management

Something drastic needs to change from the top. Some regional directors need to go. Keep good employees and get rid of the bad ones NOT the other way around!
