I have been working at Frazer-Nash Consultancy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Variety of work, interesting projects, really friendly and sociable colleagues to work with, group structure allows for working within smaller teams but is also very flexible for working across different disciplines

    Cons

Management can be slow to adapt to new ideas/changes, not very flexible working hours

I worked at Frazer-Nash Consultancy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good staff and interesting work

    Cons

Huge amount of unnecessary stress caused to Principal Consultants by putting them all at risk, even though they were all fully deployed and making money. Reason given for exercise not at all clear. Lots of talent lost as staff put at risk decided to walk.

    Advice to Management

Think before acting....(act in haste, repent...you know the rest)

I have been working at Frazer-Nash Consultancy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very talented, open and friendly colleagues. A great variety of interesting projects to work on. Colleagues are always happy to support if you ask. I believe the company and senior management really care about the work and the staff. Very respected in the industry. Great opportunities to grow and gain a lot of experience.

    Cons

Very slow to implement new and necessary IT upgrades. It sometimes seems like you need to know the right people to get the most out of your career. You need to chase opportunities to work on some projects otherwise you might be pigeonholed into a small technical area.

    Advice to Management

Keep staff informed about changes and progress. Intranet announcements are not the solution for this. Things have been improving in this area over the last few years.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Frazer-Nash Consultancy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The variety and challenge of technical work is brilliant. The vast majority of the technical staff and business managers are really switched on and great people. Largely stable business, have expanded very quickly. If you're mid-40s white male, technically competent, and a good communicator, you'll excel here. Really bright people work here, 1/4 to 1/3 have advanced degrees. The level of technical reviews are excellent,...

    Cons

Upper management are inept, and are very poor communicators. Going through redundancies at the moment, so morale is rock bottom. The culture is hugely risk averse. IT systems that were cutting edge (in the late 90s). You're very much in charge of your own career. Average pay for the work. Profit sharing has been greatly reduced recently. If you're not in the central hubs (Dorking, Bristol), you're a second class citizen....

    Advice to Management

There needs to be better communication from the top down. The CEO is good at pressing flesh around the offices and is very approachable, but is utterly tone deaf when talking or messaging staff. Most of the board of directors are deadwood and need some serious management training and communications coaching before they're effective. If they started genuinely listening to staff, that would be great.

      Pros

Interesting work Collaborative environment Decent pay Varied portfolio of work Brand and reputation One of the more reputable technical consultancies in the UK.

      Cons

Management can be too reactive rather than proactive. Work life balance could be better. Some of the work management tools are a bit dated.

      Advice to Management

Engage with the grass roots more.
