I worked at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center full-time

    Pros

The Hutch is great place to grow in a research career. The environment/culture is full of really smart and excited people around constantly.

    Cons

Sometimes the researchers are out of touch with patient's needs because they are so pressured to put out research publications. This can put a lot of pressure on coordinators as well, without much recognition for the work they also put in.

    Advice to Management

Researchers should step back and listen more when coordinators have ideas and their own needs to think about. Although papers and grants have deadlines it's important to keep in mind we're there ultimately for the patients.
