I worked at Fred Loya Insurance Agency, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You gain experience in multiple departments because you do it all.
Not only you work in the sales department but you must also learn from the Claims department. You learn how to inspect,/appraise a vehicle and write estimates. You learn to become very independent and creative because the help is little. You will also become familiar with HR forms since you are expected to collect forms and send to HR clerk in order to get processed.
Pay for Managers only is great, however they play the role of 4 and get paid for one.
It's a good learning experience and will build your resume.
I would only recommend because of the learning experience. If you have little or no experience this is a good place to start. They make you or the break you.

    Cons

-Benefits are not all that great
-Vacation is hard to get approved (always based on business needs)
    -No Flexibility
-Complicated if you call in sick
-Treatment is terrible, they expect you to give you 200% without any recognition
    -Your efforts are not appreciated
-MUST have tough skin to work for this place
-If goals are not met , there is some coaching, majority is just a questionnaire "Why didn't you do this? How did this happen? questions are asked over and over especially "Why" and no matter your response it's never good enough for them.
-Overworked, especially if you get paid by salary
-Procedure are change in weekly basis
-Salary for CSR is not competitive at all
-When you do not meet your goals or make a mistake they make sure you feel like the worst person they have on board , to prevent it from happening again.
    -You have NO LIFE!

    Advice to Management

Learn how to demonstrate appreciating towards your employees, perhaps if you do, your employee retention would be high. You will never be short staff I can guarantee you.
When you don’t feel appreciated at work it makes it difficult to appreciate you job. Which eventually results in loss of engagement and reduction in productivity.

    Pros

Everyone is very supportive as they remember how they had to train themselves on the job.

    Cons

New hires are responsible for OJT without anyone training them. Too many computer software systems make navigation difficult at best. Left to own device as to how to learn the software and processes involved in negotiating and settling claims.

    Advice to Management

    Start a real training program

    Pros

Easy career once you get a hang of it. Decent pay for management. Opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Too many duties that take away focus of your main objective which is sales. Sales managers are not only required to run their offices, but check claims, write estimates on vehicles, underwrite policies, etc. Promises made for pay raises are not honored. Bonuses for sales is based off of claims paid out as well.

    Advice to Management

Give employees a set pay rate, not one that varies every quarter. Pay employees based off individual performance, not as an office. Pay raise every so often for loyal employees.

    Pros

    - Company Promotes within
    - Promotes quickly
    - Alright pay for CSRs

    Cons

    - Fast employee turn over
    - Bad pay for management
    - Understaffed

    Advice to Management

Raise your office manager's Salary and stop treating them as if they were indispensable. I honestly have nothing against the company. I was happy until I started getting treated like a mule by upper management. Great Company, poor management.
