    Pros

My coworkers made this place manageable.

    Cons

High manager turnover. Corporate suits are not in touch with store level employees. Unreasonable expectations with zero incentive to motivate employees.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Company is great for listening to and working with you if you have a student schedule you are also working with. Great team oriented environment.

    Cons

Management seems some-what disconnected and high turnover rate makes it difficult to connect with fellow-employees and managers.

    Advice to Management

Create a more approachable and open environmental with all levels of employees.

I worked at Fred Meyer part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

customers are sometimes friendly, nice store environment, access to low prices and employee discount card for Kroger brands

    Cons

Managers are insensitive and unfair in scheduling methods. They want employees to be available 24-7 and to not mind having a different schedule every week.
They are not eco-friendly at all. They throw everything out, even compostable dirt in planters. Employees never allowed to sit down except on 10 minute breaks. The back of store is filthy and dangerous for employees (piles of garbage).

    Advice to Management

talk to employees instead of to other managers at Starbucks. If you treated employees like people then the atmosphere would be better. Learn about recycling. Have higher values than the bottom line.

I worked at Fred Meyer part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Store 613-Federal Way Boise, Idaho
There were a few managers in different dept.'s other than my own who were civil and even nice. The HR's were always cordial and tried to find solutions to any issues. There are health benefits, 401k, and paid vacation.

    Cons

Don't work in CCK-Cashiering. It was the worst customer service job I have ever had. Management basically bullied anyone they didn't like. Multiple people walked out and quit. Bringing up concerns with management was pointless-there was no initiative to resolving situations with civility and forget about any compromises/solutions. If you are a student, Fred Meyer is inflexible when it comes to your availability. There is no room for advancement like they promise because the positions are already filled and managers are more likely to promote their friends than hard working employees. They say they encourage and support their employees in acquiring degrees that they can apply toward company positions but good luck finding a manager that cares about your future dreams in the company or university for that matter. If you made friends with other dept. managers or employees then it was easier to transfer over to somewhere else. Good luck if they don't like you. No amount of hard work will get you anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Adopt a new management model that is beneficial to the success of employees and the job market instead of only managing your business stats. Paid servitude is no way to classify people trying to build a future they can be proud of.
