    Cons

You have to have experience or ask management for training.

I have been working at Fred Meyer part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits, sick pay, always have work. It is retail and when you get to know customers and they come and see you regularly it is a bonus.

    Cons

Low pay, if I were married or a child of someone higher up I would have made full-time status and higher pay.

    Pros

Great way to develop customer service skills. Work hard and you'll be noticed

    Cons

Company ran more like a large corporation than a family business. Too many rules. Need to understand less is more

    Advice to Management

Be a great leader by knowing when to follow.

    Pros

    Cons

Worked for Kroger almost 5 years transferred to Fred Meyer same position, $2.05 pay cut & the managers at my store were very unprofessional

    Pros

    Great people, great benefits.

    Cons

Very high expectations, not enough hours

    Advice to Management

Bakery Management is a tough position. You have no freedom, not enough employees or hours to schedule properly. It is a thankless job

    Pros

Great benefits for you if you are there for 90+ days. You receive a paycheck every week. Great employee appreciation week.

    Cons

Took them over 3 months from the day I was offered the position till I actually began my first day of training. I was poorly trained and subsequently told they were not going to keep me on past the probationary period.

    Advice to Management

Spend time with your new employees on training instead of just making them watch hours of videos and tell them not to waste time taking notes because each video had a timed test. I was unfairly let go based on flawed training and I passed up another job opportunity to work for you and it took 3 months to do a background check and then I could not find a job for months due to my not being able to use you as a reference.

I have been working at Fred Meyer full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Fair insurance
    Flexible schedules
    Competitive retail wadges

    Cons

Fred Meyer is becoming a corrupt company to work for. The people they promote are idiots who only care about making themselves look good. I used to be a manager for one of their departments. Upper management doesn't understand the inner workings of nearly any of their service departments yet expects unrealistic expectations (which were set by people who don't work in the service departments). Everything is a numbers game to them and they seem to forget all too often that the people who work for the company are actually human.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who actually demonstrate fantastic work ethic and know the inner workings of all service departments. Stop promoting people who pretend to know what they're doing and schmooze themselves into "the guys club". The rest of us are sick of watching poor employees get promoted. If you actually showed better opportunities and pay for people that want to move up in the company then more of us skilled employees would apply.
