I have been working at Freddie Mac full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work life balance, benefits and leadership! Senior leadership is very up front and honest with employees! There’s no tolerance for unethical behavior like I’ve seen at other places!

    Cons

Would love to have more vacation time after 3 years vs 5 but overall the company is very generous with time off.

    Pros

A comprehensive group of strong benefits, including good support for working mothers, including lactation training and new mother rooms. Back-up child care. The free on-site gym is great, if you can find time during the busy workday to take an exercise class, work the circuit, or lift some weights. Free garage parking, with plenty of spaces. On-site cafeteria offers a variety of different foods.

Lots of opportunities for training, thanks to a robust online system. My management team is very supportive of my growth, encouraging me to pursue training and networking opportunities. I've made some excellent connections with current and former employees at Freddie Mac, and really like working here.

    Cons

Not enough hours in the day to accomplish all the good work.

    Advice to Management

Keep helping us stay focused on our mission.

    Pros

Benefits package is very competative. For the most part the people that I have worked with are competent and have a great work ethic.

    Cons

Those few that are not competent seem to be causing problems on a consistant basis. But as you may know these people are at every business, we just wonder how they keep their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management actually has their act together and they do a great job of delegating the right job to the right person. Senior Mgmt from what I have seen has been able to notice talent in certain areas and see who has none.

  4. "Great company, wonderful people, worried about future"

    Pros

The mission and the people are the most compelling reasons. The people at Freddie Mac are some of the most intelligent, hard working and inspirational individuals I have ever worked with.

    Cons

Beauracracy - employees are not empowered to make their own decisions. The corporate culture is extremely risk adverse and unwilling or unable to make decisions or adapt to change quickly.

    Advice to Management

Empower your employees to make decisions without having to go through the chain of command for every minor issue. In order to survive in the future the company needs to become more nimble and responsive to customer needs. Currently that is not happening.
