I worked at Freedom Village full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I learned a lot during my few months there. Flexible work schedule from time to time. The owner is great for the most part.

    Cons

Everything else basically. Terribly negative working environment. Demeaning and belittling constantly.

    Advice to Management

    Don't work with your spouse.

I have been working at Freedom Village full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice patients, decent pay and nice lunch break area. Really aside from patients there is nothing nice about working here. Only take if you really need a paycheck.

    Cons

Co workers don't work together, no one will answer your call lights ( even if they're sitting on their phone at the nurse station or in the hand washing closet). Charge nurses don't care about CNA'S or helping with patient care. Get sent home ALL the time, after you show up for work they figure out if they're over staffed and send people home ( no choice on who goes). Have to park 5 minutes away and walk to work. Punch...

    Advice to Management

Start paying attention to ALL staff, not just favorites. There is alot of terrible care happening everyday. Have people go in pretending to be new hires and get a real feel for the care your nursing staff is providing and just how much " work " you're getting for your money. All of the staff agree they would never send a loved one there. There's a reason. But having a group meeting will not help. No one wants to be the...

I have been working at Freedom Village

    Pros

Working with residents and their families. Having flexibility with job duties. Increasing experience with the growing geriatric population

    Cons

Corporate. ...priorities are financial The upper management is unaware of the failings of the programs that were initiated to better care for and enrich the lives of the residents

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees Expect more from employees and weed out those who show they don't care about their jobs. Stop allowing wreck less behavior continue without holding the person responsible.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Freedom Village for more than 3 years

    Pros

Small facility that does its best to take care and provide extra care to its residents. Also does its best to keep you in the Freedom Village family with great compensation and benefits.

    Cons

Can be stressful with long days. Expect to wear many "hats". One resident or family complaint can lead to termination.

    Advice to Management

Ensure everyone stays accountable and listen to staff. Needs a strong leader d/t all the "tenured" employees stuck in there ways.
