I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Name is good on resume. Definitely a good company to learn the trade

    Cons

Stay away from the morenci mine if you are the type who can't stand poor professionalism and pettiness. It's a buddy system. You have to hunt, shoot, chew and spit with the bosses.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent and honest with your employees.

    I worked at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wages higher than any local position + quarterly bonuses

    Cons

I was more experienced, organized and harder working than many others that stomped right on by me to promotions, it was all about "who you know"

    Advice to Management

no more favoritism, nepotism and racism!!

I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time

    Pros

Best pay for the area of Arizona we live in great people to work with and around learned alot of technical aspects of the trade.

    Cons

The work can be very stressful. They say safety first, but when they have a certain quota to make the often put production over safety

    Advice to Management

My advice is pay the people who are worth the promotions and coach your front lines how to properly line out employees and left them do their work. Micro managing is definitely not the key...

I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Freeport really cares about the safety of its employees. If that's not reason enough to work for them, the pay is really great as well as the benefits.

    Cons

Sometimes with these big companies a lot of politics make things more difficult. Not necessarily our nation's politics but just more like corporate politics and favoritism. Also, the copper industry relies heavily on the world's production.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees in the ground. A lot of things could be done more efficiently if those employees were involved.
