    Pros

the moneys good, benefits are great

    Cons

hauzordes enviromment, management team needs to take a course in, People Skills. you have supervisors, that will be laughing and joking with certain persons of a crew.and then a certain person or persons, will walk up on them, and the supervisors face will go from happy, to mad frown, jaw drop to the ground, hate in your eyes kinda face. they need to treat the haul truck drivers, with dignity and respect. there the ones making the$$ for this so cold outfit... rather than trying to judge a book by its cover.and you have to get used to the fatiuge , physical & mental abuse, from the enviroment, long hours & shiftwork

    Advice to Management

study up on your management supervisor, and leadership skills.before you become part of the management team. oh,, and i almost forgot, Do not let the position go to your empty head... fill it with knowledge first.. (signed) USED TO BE YOURS!!

    Pros

Some great people to work with. If there's one thing I miss about working for Freeport are some of the people, not all of them. Safety is good. PTO was pretty good. 401k was good.

    Cons

Pay could be way better. Town was crap. Managers were the laziest I've ever seen. All they do is sit behind their computers all day and complain. On days off, I got contacted via email, mobile, or text. I just wanted to be left alone during my days off. PTO was pretty good but in all honesty, it wasn't enough time off away from that godforsaken place. Plant was an absolute mess. The worst I've ever seen.
I am sad that I've had to say all these bad things about the company and give it horrible reviews. I thought I had found a long term employer.

    Advice to Management

Old managers should leave. A changing of the guard should happen.

    I worked at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really liked working for the company. The people that I worked with were very helpful and nice. True that they have expectations, but they are also very patient in training you. As long as you are willing to put in the effort, you will succeed.

    Cons

Living in a mining town can be rough for some people, especially for those who are from big cities. It really takes time to get used to it.

    I worked at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It has great benefits with good paying jobs. Over time is usually available if you want it. Housing is cheap and affordable with a great school for the kids.

    Cons

Upper management is sometimes to "old school" with certain things. They don't recognize front line employees enough when giving bonuses and raises.

    Advice to Management

Live true to the slogan of building the future through the strength of our people. When front line employees do a lot of the leg work reward them more for it. Not just salary employees.

    Pros

Employee-focused, community leader, a company that has real integrity.

    Cons

Some bureaucracy like any big company and the volatility of the markets in this industry makes for some uncertainties

    Advice to Management

Develop in-house talent. There are great people with good ideas, not often heard enough by management.
