I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

+ Great benefits: 401k match, health insurance, regular bonuses + Culture of safety + Technical and social training + Learn multiple responsibilities at one site + Steady job: never felt my job was in jeopardy + Community support + Remote location

    Cons

    - Slow growth upwards: jump to Senior, Chief, and above is significant challenge, recommend transferring often - Housing crisis: not entirely the company's fault, not enough space to build more, expect to commute - "Checked out" employees on one hand, high turnover on the other - Remote location

    Advice to Management

Management feels top-heavy. Can't seem to do much without corporate approval and control: hiring, equipment, HR issues, software, etc. Constant grunt work pays well, but promotes little. Can never seem to catch up to constant production work.

I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great community In Bagdad and great opportunity for advancement and exploring new opportunities. Great place a for a project engineer to start out as you get project management experience. The company also provides a pool, fitness center, CrossFit classes, and golf course all for free.

    Cons

Some positions work a lot of over time (project engineers). Some supervisors and managers are technically stupendous but terrible people managers.

I have been working at Freeport-McMoRan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, you only work 14 out of every 28 days (not in a row)

    Cons

Expect days you do work to run 13 hours plus. Freeport knows how to mine well but not how to deal with employeed supervision and management are often unfair and inconsistent. More office politics than anywhere else I have ever worked. They expect you to live for them and don't really care about your home life.

    Advice to Management

Send supervisors to training for supervision teach them to be professional and fair.
