    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Freight+Volume part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to the ny art scene/ artists, learned a lot about the inner workings of gallery management. Lots of room for growth and responsibility.

    Cons

I was also a full-time student so I didn't have time to become fully immersed in the running of the gallery.

    Pros

With F+V you always have the opportunity to work with both emerging and established artists for across the US. Sometimes solo and other times group shows.

F+V is also well know for great openings and the owner Nick is a legend for his artists and employees after events where you get relax, mix, and make connects with some of the NYC gallerists.

Also, positions are flexible in a way that you can get more experience in your interests such as events, sales, or marketing regardless of where you initially started.

    Cons

Sometimes it's really busy and other times slower, so you may be working with others or just working an individual task.

I hope you have a good sense of humor because some of the artwork can be very edgy.

    I worked at Freight+Volume part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked as an art handler for less than a year, but I really enjoyed working with the talented artists and got along with the owner Nick.

    Cons

Leading up to a show, like with any gallery, can get stressful but with the help of the staff always delivered.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes communication could be better, but we always found a solution.

    I worked at Freight+Volume full-time

    Pros

Independent self driven job. Nick is always generous with bringing staff out for drinks and dinner. Great eye for emerging and mid career artists. You need to have knowledge of the art world and a handle on Art Sales.

    Cons

Can get crazy at openings. Interns are always an issue.

    Advice to Management

    Buy more pickle-backs!

    I worked at Freight+Volume part-time

    Pros

Genuinely loved all the artists and people I worked with

    Cons

Nick (the owner) is a total nightmare to work for. I never got paid on time the entire time I worked there. Don't know how they're a functioning business.

    Neutral Outlook

    I worked at Freight+Volume part-time

    Pros

You are able to work along with some very talented artists and art professionals. Long-term freelance with the gallery is possible.

    Cons

The gallery director seems short on Money. Working as an intern, do not feel shy to get the reinbursement for the work that you did.

    Advice to Management

If you the director can be more aware of the unpaid

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

I learned how not to run a gallery. That is probably the only positive thing I learned from this otherwise terrible experience.

    Cons

Honestly, there were red flags everywhere and I should've left a lot sooner than I did.
The owner has issues and communication problems, felt like I was walking on eggshells a lot of times. I had issues getting paid my stipend that were not resolved until after I had left. There's a lot more to be said but bottom line stay as far away from this place as possible. As the other reviews mention it's not worth the hassle or mental anguish.

    Advice to Management

Stop relying on the work of unpaid interns, and work on your communication skills, who knows, maybe you'll stop having some of the many problems you seem to constantly have.

    Pros

None, I got hired and literally stayed for about 3 months until I quit because I couldn't deal with how unorganized the management was

    Cons

Long hours, no growth, overworked management, owner is completely out of touch with business

    Advice to Management

    Do Better
