I worked at Fremont Bank full-time

    Pros

    Location of corporate office

    Cons

Most of upper management is unaware of lower management's qualifications as well as regular employees

    Advice to Management

Listen to your regular employees more

    Pros

I learned a lot about loan documentation and the process behind it. Most people are friendly and they have a positive organizational culture.

    Cons

I felt like there wasn't enough work at times, and they don't take your educational background into consideration when being placed in a position.

There are a lot of thing you have to learn on your own. The company uses a lot of acronyms. Plenty of other interns agreed with me.

In addition to that, certain HR employees were not helpful when I was trying to stay with the company. I did my part and reached out to managers and discussed potential roles, but HR pretty much told me to just apply online on the career section of the website. Very disappointed by the lack of help there.

    Advice to Management

Try taking into consideration the interests of the interns. I did not get to choose where I would be placed. For ex, I studied Business and IT, but placed on quality assurance of loan documents. It made the internship less engaging

I have been working at Fremont Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed settings, just enough pressure, easy system, simple problems

    Cons

I guess, being in a banking industry, everything tends to lag behind. When I got here, classic ASP apps abound. Network technology lags, unreasonable, yet dated security processes.

It's a small group, and there's only so much you can move forward. Not enough challenge to keep you motivated.

Inter-department communication is almost non existent. Those working in the network and infrastructure just close their eyes and pretend there's no problem.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is fine, but lower management contradicts themselves.

I have been working at Fremont Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team, people and most managers.
The good managers care about everyone and others just about themselves.
You can tell that the company really cares about it's people.

    Cons

Some managers and staff act like they work, but have not worked a 40 hour week in years. Thank god there are other mangers and staff that pick up the slack and set an example that carries the team.
Politics and favoritism seems to rule here.

    Advice to Management

Don't let politics and friendships fool you has to who really shows up to work. Some do and others don't, but the smoke and mirrors protect those who don't. This sets a bad example for all those who really care about the customers, team and bank.

It's very interesting that those who don't work (fake work) click together and politically protect each other, and those who do work either do the same and or try to click with both groups. It's very interesting from a social dynamic point of view, but frustrating when you're stuck in the middle. I think executive management should ask the managers and staff who the real workers are. Just ask who the hardest working staff and managers are and take a poll. I think that would shed some light on things they don't want to see.

I have been working at Fremont Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people are phenomenal, very supportive of each other and committed to doing a good job. Fremont Bank is flexible and can change direction quickly if needed because they are a community bank and have less red tape

    Cons

The nature of our business ebbs and flows, which means we can become very busy and very quickly. We rode a wave of low interest rates for longer than we've experience in the past and our people worked too much overtime and did not have a good balance between work and home life. You need to have both to have happy employees

    Advice to Management

When there is a downturn, always keep a solid core group and try to find other ways to reduce costs.

I have been working at Fremont Bank full-time

    Pros

Employees get along very well and there is a good sense of community within the company. Strongest lender for a medium sized bank in the country. I have good things to say about this company, it's not perfect though.

    Cons

Can be overworked from time to time. A lot of volatility within the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Better incentives.
