I worked at Fremont Rideout Health Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I loved working here. My coworkers were awesome, the other departments were always helpful and teamwork was great. I loved my job, the benefits can't be beat, I would have worked there until retirement given the chance!

    Cons

The leadership and upper management aren't as community-minded as the workers. The majority do not live in the area and don't seem to have a vested interest in listening to the issues from the bottom up. Who better to fix issues and offer suggestions than those people who work in that position every day? Supervisor and management positions have been contracted out. Local community employees who have very strong performance reviews and work ethic are being replaced with contract employees from all over the US. It's sad to see morale go down because of these changes.

    Advice to Management

Please hire local before replacing permanent employees with permanent contracted positions, especially when quality is higher and cost is lower for a local employee.

I have been working at Fremont Rideout Health Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a small community hospital system that CAN have a family feel depending on what department you work in. Most staff are good people trying to do the right thing and take care of their patients.

    Cons

It takes way too long for any decisions to be made. Leadership is not always held accountable for their actions.
As I mentioned as a Pro, this is a small community hospital, but that also means that it can be small-minded. Cliques are formed in management and as long as you are their friend and go drinking at Sopa Thai or The Refuge with them, you are protected. People hold positions that they are not qualified for, nor do they contribute to the department.
Changes are constantly being made with no communication to staff. It's only passed to certain members of management and stops there.
Rideout is not known for providing the best patient care. It was starting to get better, but is going in a downward spiral again.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring Interim positions and listen to your staff when they voice concerns.

    Pros

Great Co Workers, Health Plan is hands down best in area (Better than County or City). Company has many perks with Employee Appreciation, Retirement, LIfe Insurance, Cafeteria Plan and Payroll Deductions for Events and Gyms.

    Cons

Hospital has been through many management changes and struggles with regulatory agencies. More reactive than proactive in planning and management style.

    Advice to Management

More than advice is needed here.

    Pros

Healthcare benefits are good. Work environment varies between managers and departments. There are some who show their staff support and appreciation.

    Cons

Management is unresponsive and more concerned with productivity in the face of low staff morale. Departments are understaffed and people are overworked.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they try to communicate concerns. Be responsive, not retaliatory. Be proactive about solutions to staff issues.

I have been working at Fremont Rideout Health Group part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits and nothing else

    Cons

Managers from Sodexo are clueless and their bosses are no better. Having to watch your back from your bosses and coworkers. Micro managing burdens the department and not listening to those who raise concerns and improvements.

    Advice to Management

Step up or Step out. Trust your workers to do their jobs and not threaten them with write ups or worse. Stop listening to those who cause inter department drama and are the center of issues within the department. Listen to the concerns of your workers and back them up when you should. Actually do investigations before passing punishment on to your workers.
