I have been working at Fremont USD (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Design and present the material I find most beneficial to those requiring computer skills to act in the job market.

    Cons

At times it can be difficult to access enough students to allow a quarter of classes.

    Advice to Management

To the state of California: Focus more on supporting the industry that supplies qualified employees, referring to education.

I worked at Fremont USD (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good district with a lot of helpful parents in some areas.
South Fremont schools tend to be more high-achieving than the North Fremont schools.
    Staff is VERY hard-working.

    Cons

    Overcrowded!!!
District office doesn't have enough people to do jobs accurately.
Tests have been administered with no correct answers available, and with other errors.
    High pressure!
Teachers aren't properly trained for updated technology, etc. whether it's a new software program or a new curriculum. One day of training doesn't cut it.
It's a "given" that teachers work overtime to get the job done, but they work with no overtime pay. MANY free hours and days are not paid.
    District is just too big!

    Advice to Management

Split into 2 districts and hire more people at the district level so people aren't doing jobs for 2 or 3 people, and so the jobs are done accurately and on time.

I have been working at Fremont USD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is competitive and one of the best in the East Bay.

    Cons

The past year has seen the rise of much nepotism in promotions and hiring. Many of the Administrators at schools have management styles that would make the 1980s proud. Long time teachers know that they just have to hunker down and outlast the rotten administrators. Few principals have the desire to stay at school - their goal seems to be to move up to district staff ( here or other places) and not dedicate themselves to a school.

Parent deportment has gone downhill: few involved in PTSA and many nasty attacks on teachers.

    Advice to Management

Support your teachers against crazy and aggressive parents. Every district knows that fewer people are going into teaching and as staff retires who will back fill if the word is out that Admins will not back you up?

I worked at Fremont USD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are related to someone who already works it is easy to get in and you don't have to do much work. Good benefits.

    Cons

If you take pride in your work and are dedicated, this is not the place for you. If you have a very brown nose, this is your place. Honesty is not encouraged and will get you in trouble. Just go with the flow and do not think and you will do okay. Low pay compared to outside.

    Advice to Management

Remove teachers from management positions and run it like a business. Don't talk transparency - do it.
