I worked at French West Vaughan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

FWV was an excellent place to grow and learn for me. There is a great core team that made work fun. The client base is very diverse, so I was able to gain hands on experience in a wide range of industries. Management there really took care of me in terms of being flexible and encouraging me to pursue work that I was interested in and that advanced our capabilities. On top of that, as I learned more and became more knowledgeable, they made sure to reflect that in my salary.

    Cons

Over time, the main thing I saw that some people struggled with was the agency environment. Just like most agencies, things are very fast paced, so keep that in mind going in if that doesn't fit your personality.

Agency was unorganized and lacked in communication.

I have been working at French West Vaughan full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The client list is spectacular. You have the opportunity to work on an impressive list of national clients that most large firms would envy. The clients are eclectic so you have a variety of work available from travel & tourism, retail apparel, spirit brands, public affairs, crisis com, B2B, sports & entertainment and more. The Raleigh HQ office is in the middle of the downtown renaissance and the location provides a low cost of living with a high quality of life. FWV frequently promotes from within and most people on the management team worked their way up through the ranks. If you work here, you definitely exercise your public relations muscles and build skills that are appreciated in any corp com or agency.

    Cons

Work in any agency is stressful, because you have to keep clients happy. You are expected to create work at a higher standard than other local agencies.

    Pros

For the most part the clients were interesting and there were a lot of fun and creative people on staff there. There was a lot of freedom for you to take on areas of interest that may be outside of your job description.

    Cons

There were definitely some toxic people there that made things more difficult than they needed to be. Management was either too heavy handed or completely aloof, they never seemed to get a good balance of interaction. There was also so much turnover that from one week to the next it seemed like there was an entirely new staff. At times the owner seemed to care more about personal projects than the core of the business.

    Advice to Management

Stabilize the company and really develop a culture. Communicate better and more efficiently with staff and find a good balance of interaction with the staff.

I worked at French West Vaughan as an intern

    Pros

-Great growing agency that has some very good clients
    -Very busy environment
-Office space is cool- located in downtown Raleigh where there are lots of places to eat/ go out
-Most intern coordinators are very involved and want you to get as much experience as possible

    Cons

-Make sure you always ask for more to do, if you have nothing to do it's only because everyone else is so busy they forget to assign you something, but they will love the help!
    -Unpaid internship

    Advice to Management

    Pay your interns:)

Innovative, cutting edge great in business development. You get a lot of responsibility fast and expected to solve problems and create/execute strategies right off the bat.

    Cons

Relies too much on interns, constantly chasing new clients even though they had no extra capacity to serve them.

    Advice to Management
