I have been working at Fresenius Medical Care - North America (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with the patients. There is some schedule flexibility depending upon the position. A good deal of professional autonomy depending upon the position.

    Cons

The senior leadership could care less about the clinic level employees and the mid-level leadership follow their lead. Employees are threatened and bullied into attempting to reach completely unrealistic expectations given their circumstances. Communication is from the top down, often disorganized and rarely transparent. Outside of a pointless annual employee engagement survey, little interest is taken in front-line employee feedback.

    Advice to Management

Obsess on promoting quality patient care and supporting your front line staff rather than the bottom line.

    Pros

Excellent company overall. Great employee benefits. Really looks out for the employee. Many areas to grow in. Great internal possibilities.

    Cons

Lack of communication between departments. Some upper management is too comfortable and complacent. Sometimes hard to show changes that are necessary.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating employees like they mean something. Communication must improve in all areas. Excellent overall as a a company. Great job.

I worked at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits. opportunity to move within the country to grow within. The company as whole needs to reduce the amount of upper management and the large salaries.

    Cons

Lacking training, Growth is not based on experience. HR is not supportive of management, they support and back subordinate staff.More training needs to be provided for lower level management. Consistent employee retention issue. Upper management is more concerned about the company financial incentives versus safe patient care. Salaried employees work more that 50 hour a week.

    Advice to Management

Change the criteria in which the bonuses are based to provide a safe work environment. With the changes that have occured within the company there finances are more stable, allowing the opportunity to provide a buffer with staffing.

    Pros

Great PTO days off and the staff is really nice. They encourage students right out of high school and there is plenty of room to grow

    Cons

The pay is low compared to the titles and the hours can be long during the close process depending on what department you are in.

    Advice to Management

More training to new employees and a better understanding of how people learn. Teaching by powerpoint does not always do the trick

I have been working at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The longer you work here the more PTO you earn though time off, sick and holiday is rolled up into one bucket. Company pays a good bit of the medical, however be careful which plan you choice cause you could end up paying more out of pocket. Dental is about the same you'll find any where else. The company's intranet has a wealth of knowledge that can assist you with your job however most new employees don't know about all the information as the setup is very hard to navigate and search features are horrible.

    Cons

Company tends to re-org every few years. Past year and half the financial teams across the whole company are being centralized including Accounts Payable, Billing and more. There is a lot of politics with the re-org as everyone wants things to be ran their way or their group to be in charge. With the re-org a lot of jobs are being created and posted however most of the time upper management already knows who they are hiring so you don't have a chance of getting the job. A lot of favoritism with Manager's and their staff, it all depends on where you work and who you work for it's a good environment. For such a large company they are very behind on technology services. Also there's always a ton of hoops to jump through to items changed or updated. If you work in any of the Financial areas the pay is very low compared to what other companies pay (i.e. for accountants, analyst, etc.) The longer you are there the more likely you are to be capped out on your pay.

    Advice to Management

When making company wide changes don't forget to take in account how those changes will effect the financial teams, billing teams, etc. More recognition for long term employees. Training programs for the financial and billing side like the clinical side receives.
