I worked at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I was in a union facility and the pay was good. I loved my patients

    Cons

Management dept has a high turn over, and ruthless ones replace the good ones. Staff who doesn't care for patients should be gone, but are not because of politics.

    Advice to Management

Reward staff who are doing a great job, and get rid of the ones who are screwing up the patients and have a horrible attitude towards their work.

I worked at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is good you get raises because of the union.off on major holidays.

    Cons

PCT's run the unit, clan like behavior. No support from management. Nepotism is rampant, family members work together under different last names and they state they are related . No racial diversity, a particular nationality is the majority of the staff and they speak their language on the unit.

    Advice to Management

Have more transperancey.Do not have family members and a particular nationality of people as the majority of the staff. The racial diversity of the staff should represent your patient population, that is not what is happening.

I have been working at Fresenius Medical Care - North America (More than a year)

    Pros

Gets your foot in the door for dialysis industry, they train you to meet minimal state and dept of health requirements.

    Cons

Constant reactionary, management re-organizations. Management not trained to be leaders. Working with old and obsolete technology. Trust no one!

    Advice to Management

Throwing good workers under the bus will serve you for only so long, eventually you run out of scapegoats; and as you now see no one is applying because the word is out about low pay and your less than ethical behaviors.

I have been working at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule if needed. Staff at clinic is nice once they accept you Good stepping stone for new social workers. Bad place for seasoned social workers

    Cons

The social work lead is a negative micromanager. Unsure if they wants supervisors to meet goals regardless of no skills as a supervisor or how they make people
Feel or supervisors who inspire staff to perform better

    Advice to Management

Better vet potential social work supervisors and stop using the social work intensive program one size fits all approach to meet CMS guidelines of quality care. it is not a good program. They stick to it for purposes of telling CMS they deliver quality care

I have been working at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Knowing the patients. Easy to advance if you know your job and do it well. Ability to ask for certain days off without using PTO. Mostly good people to work with.

    Cons

Long hours. 16+. Dealing with rude patients. Dealing with the gossip between coworkers. Understaffed but that's most dialysis units.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the unions. They do more harm than good especially when they protect lazy workers.

    Pros

Great benefits package. Lots of job opportunities outside of management and lots of opportunities across the United States of America. This is a good entry level company to start with.

    Cons

Poor management teams in place and no real oversight over their functionality. This scenario hurts everyone. Most clinic managers and directors are clueless with respect to their duties.

    Advice to Management

Observe in person your management teams and the work culture that they create.

    Pros

I can't think of any, to be truthful.

    Cons

Fresenius is the McDonald's of dialysis. Training consists of numerous corporate made videos, including one expressing the evils of labor unions. Leadership is nonexistent, and there is a constant turnover of healthcare staff.

    Advice to Management

Value the people who come to this place for care more than the profit that they generate.

I worked at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

compensation is "ok", and they do give annual increases

    Cons

They will not hire you in another city if you move. Don't even bother putting in for a transfer. When you move, you will get completely ignored even though you were a former employee in good standing with the company. The company would rather hire an anonymous idiot from outside the company rather than an internal hire that know what they are doing. Don't expect to get proper training at this company. Nobody there knows what they are doing and people just "guess" or make it up as they go along. There is no formal training program for the Social Workers and you will get passed around to many different people who largely do not know what they are doing. Also the company will expect you to do more work and not get any pay increases. Disloyal company, I would never for work them again. They do not treat employees with respect or dignity. The CEO has no clue what goes on in his clinics and better yet doesn't care.

    Advice to Management

Management should consider that if they expect you to do additional work, they should compensate you.
There is never room to be promoted, there is no upward growth.
