    Positive Outlook

I worked at Fresh Market (More than a year)

    Pros

I’m a single mom with three Kids, that means a couple of call outs and having to leave early on some occasions. Each time the managers and co workers were so understanding. I litterally had the best experience working there and was very sad to leave

    Cons

The cap you off at I believe $12 (in nj anyway)but if you apply for a manager or assistant manager of your section then you can get higher raises.

    Advice to Management

Keep taking care of your employees and make them happy, because if they are happy your customers will be happy. They will enjoy coming to work and enjoy what they are doing and that will show in every aspect of your company.

I have been working at Fresh Market full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Appealing, attractive environment and generally nice people

    Cons

The pay really should be more in line with what Whole Foods provides employees. They play the same 20 or so songs in the background of the store over and over and over and over and over....

    Advice to Management

Better pay, different and more varied background music in the store

I worked at Fresh Market part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great discounts during holidays, but it still just equals a normal grocery store price, just better quality

    Cons

Terrible management, Poorly run, and very disorganized

    Advice to Management

Talk to each other, and learn all the roles. They are very incapable of doing any of the front end requirements. Many of them just stand idly by.

I have been working at Fresh Market full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Meeting and working with great people within the 4 walls of the store.

    Cons

    50+ hours a week
    No lunch breaks
No Christmas Bonus (everyone else in store received one)
Department Manager's make more money than ASM's
Extended Holiday Hours=ASM woking 60+ work week
Managing maybe 20% of the time.
Promised that ASM salary would be reviewed after all other hourly positions were raised, but no mention after 6 months of that happening resulting in being at the industry lowest rate for position.

    Advice to Management

Mr. Appel should spend some quality time with his ASM's to get some good honest feedback as to how his Assistant Store Manager's are feeling! They are not happy! Half the time they're running multiple departments because the Department Manager's don't "manage"! They are overpaid clerks with a title. Your ASM's are the stores glue and the glue is falling apart. Their is absolutely no incentive for a department manager to move up into an ASM position when they make more in their current position. Look out for ASM's to start stepping down into departments!

I worked at Fresh Market part-time

    Pros

Fresh Market staff is friendly and inviting. The store provided competitive pay for the part-time job market.

    Cons

The shifts were much longer than expected. All of them were eight hours. They did not provide information about the amount of hours expected to work weekly.

    Advice to Management

Provide more information to potential employees. Be more flexible with part-time workers, especially students.
