I have been working at Fried Frank Harris full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The willingness for change, the people, and the type of work.

    Cons

Demanding environment but it forces you to have a high attention to detail and foresee business needs.

I worked at Fried Frank Harris full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

About the only good thing is the very few decent people that work there. The benefits are ok. Otherwise, there isn’t anything good about this place.

    Cons

One of the most unprofessional, dysfunctional and negative work environments I’ve ever worked in. The worst part is seeing how poorly staff members are treated, which is why morale is very low. Despite the high turnover, all for the same known reasons, nothing will ever change. There is no work/life balance. The office politics are just about the most bizarre, disruptive and disturbing parts of working there.

    Advice to Management

Start holding directors and upper management accountable for the low morale and for the existing problems. Listen to what support staff members are saying and start making real changes that will make people want to work there. Respect work/life balance.

    Pros

Down to earth people, for the most part. Helpful and knowledgeable support staff. Great earning potential and diverse practice areas. Leader in real estate

    Cons

Clique-y practice groups. Some partners difficult to work with. Getting associates on partner track seems to not be of great concern. No sponsorship program in place

Fried Frank is a fun, friendly place to work. I have been here for more than half of my life. Absolutely love it.

    Cons

NY office is too controlling over other offices

I have been working at Fried Frank Harris full-time

    Pros

Pros are paycheck, medical coverage, view of NY Harbor.

    Cons

Stress and disrespect from some directors and attorneys wear you down.

    Advice to Management

For those in charge, stop instructing secretaries they must enjoy coming to work and servicing all attorneys even when already busy - and to keep quiet when treated badly. There is something called self respect.

I worked at Fried Frank Harris full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the admin/support staff are really nice. Usually these staff members are not appreciated, and at times treated poorly.

    Cons

Nobody is happy there. People keep leaving. Rather than try to keep their strong employees, management does everything in its power to make people want to leave. No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Take responsibility for why people keep leaving the firm.

    Pros

Excellent training available through formal and informal channels. Prestigious clients and complex transactions.

    Cons

Demanding clients, partner and difficult work/life balance as is typical for law firm environment.

    Advice to Management

Focus on grooming junior associates to be loyal alums instead of just future partners.
