I worked at Frima Studio full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

People working at Frima are genuinely passionate about gaming. Great atmosphere. A lot of people were let go in early 2017 but it was well managed and they helped everyone in the process of finding a new job.

    Cons

Business developement failed to get new contracts for a few months. High management seems scared to invest in IPs.

    Advice to Management

Get the best biz dev team possible and try to move away from Unity

I worked at Frima Studio full-time

    Pros

If you are a fresh graduate or have little experience, it's a good place to start and get industry experience. But keep in mind that if you want any chance of improvement in your career and\or stay sane, you need to bounce somewhere else. Lots of advantages: -Projects rates from good to ok. No triple A -Not too much overtime. -French classes for foreigners -Decent health insurance plan medical bills and...

    Cons

-Department management is problematic; some are experienced in their specialty (modeling, painting, programming) but are unexperienced in management. They are also overloaded and don't have much time for anything, -Absence of lead artists on most team projects wich can complicate things if you hire tons of new unexperienced employees that need training. -Very high staff turnover, since they don't invest much on...

    Advice to Management

Hire a decent number of experienced staff management (Leads, directors and project managers) for the fast growing teams. It will be better with communication, productivity, motivation and overall satisfaction for everybody.

I worked at Frima Studio full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed work environnement Great location Nice place to socialize with fellow geeks

    Cons

Lack of direction and communication Poor management skills of leaders Often treated as a newb when you have more than 10 years + of experience A lot of resistance to change and they need to update their HR policies and HR team. They've been there too long and don't see the world evolved around them.

    Advice to Management

Clean up the HR team and hire more experienced managers. They need real leader to get this nice company together.

    I worked at Frima Studio

    Pros

From the very beginning, I was given trust and responsibilities which helped me grow. Small teams, large variety of projects, and generally great people on the development floor. Generally low amount of overtime.

    Cons

I will only talk about the things that impacted me directly. The budget and ressources to train employees between projects are super limited. Poor management in some departments. Very little structure, lack of unity. Some managers are either inexperienced, self-absorbed, or overloaded with development work. Being a friend/student of some managers will make your life easier. Being critical of their work won't.

    Advice to Management

Find better lead/managers. Give these people the time to do management work. Make sure your experienced employees want to keep working for you.

    I worked at Frima Studio

    Pros

Great work atmosphere, nice people, Sillicon-Valley inspired office, wide variety of projects, possibility to work on original titles.

    Cons

Clear lack of vision for their own original titles.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent with employees. Stop wasting money trying to develop your own tv shows and partner with another company who knows how it works. Develop a clear vision for your department of original games. Keep your best talent. Work with a company on a real project and get to know them before letting them buy part of the company.

I have been working at Frima Studio full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Lots of differents projects, big and small. Lots of nice coworkers. When you work on a project, everyone on the team is important. You can have a huge impact and everyone can give their ideas.

    Cons

Sometime it's hard to know what's going on. Communication is really not the strongest point of the company.

    Advice to Management

Most of the time, if people don't like a decision, it's because they don't fully understand all the reasons that led to this decision. Don't hesitate to share and explain what's going on. People will be more eager to help once they understand.

I have been working at Frima Studio full-time

    Pros

I consider Frima as being the optimal place to start a career in the video game and entertainment industry. I started my own at Frima 4 years ago and I was first amazed by people working there. In addition to their good human qualities, they are very passionate and motivated by their work. Frima is also known for offering a motivating working environment, good social conditions, organizing a lot of social activities...

    Cons

On the production floor, I witnessed a lack of communication between some departments, a lack of structure in production pipeline and a lack of training programs for their programmers. These weaknesses should slowly disappear as the company gets more mature, and plans to offer better training programs in the next year.

    Advice to Management

The company should stabilize his production pipeline by supplying more effort into better communication, better human resource management and more effective continuous integration support.

    Pros

Great community, great work environment. Friendly people. Good perks, good hours.

    Cons

Management didn't really know where they were heading. They kept "restructuring" over and over. The CEO (Steve) liked to micro-managed a bit too much to my liking, although that was improving.

    Advice to Management

Hands off. You hired expert to work for you, let them do what they do best.

I have been working at Frima Studio full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

    - Working with a lot of talented people - If you work hard and push yourself, there is a lot of great career opportunities to come at Frima. - Since the projects are smaller than big AAA studios, you have the chance to touch at a lot of different things and steps of production.

    Cons

    - A lot of things are still working like this was a 50 employee company but this is getting better all the time.

    Advice to Management

Do not be afraid to invest more and more in your best employees they could bring you somewhere great!
