I have been working at FrontStream Payments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

After a tough couple years, it finally feels like the company is starting to build a more cohesive business strategy and cohesive team. The exit of certain senior mgmt team members and the entry of new ones brought fresh ideas, and a better support for employees. If new and revamped products prove to be successful, and the company is able to further reinvest in its people (and chooses to), this could be a great place to work. Time will tell.

    Cons

It would be great to see CEO Bill Wood engage with more staff and not only other senior mgmt team members. Working from home seems more like a "only if necessary" option as a opposed to a true flexible work environment. I generally like coming to the office, but having the freedom to work from home as a genuine choice would instill more trust in employees.

    Advice to Management

Success comes from a strong, motivated army, not simply from leadership.

I have been working at FrontStream Payments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Schedule flexibility. Most of the employees are easy to work with and work well together. It is also a relaxed environment, not much micro managing.

    Cons

Products don't work as intended and haven't for some time. New products moving out and are not finished.

    Advice to Management

Focus on creating solutions, not more problems to add to the problem basket. Listen to what the employees say, do not ask for opinions and look the other way.

    Pros

It's an interesting industry where you are helping organizations achieve their fundraising goals. Work/life balance, for me, is pretty ideal. Location in Toronto is great.

    Cons

Sometimes it feels like the company has no overall direction or you provide suggestions or data to managers and you don't hear back.

People like to have a lot of meetings, but they don't feel useful.

    Pros

Benefits/salary/commission. Feel comfortable working with all other employees. Love working with nonprofits!

    Cons

Many new changes keep us on our toes. However, I am excited about the new services/products coming in 2017.

    Advice to Management

Connect with sales reps before making marketing and pricing decisions that might adversely affect our wonderful nonprofit clients.

I worked at FrontStream Payments full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

FrontStream is a great opportunity for a hungry sales person. The vision for the next four years relies on the shoulders of the sales team.

    Benefits are good

The real win is helping non profits

    Cons

Frontstream just finished up acquiring several companies and with that comes growing pains.

It is dialing the phones for most of the sales generation. If you are an outbound sales person it may not be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on the training modules for new employees, that will give them the confidence to get over the growing pains of the company.

I have been working at FrontStream Payments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are very nice, and they try much harder than the company deserves. Work/life balance is good for many (but definitely not all).

    Cons

I have never been privy to an organization that makes so many uniformly terrible decisions. There is a complete lack of understanding for what makes a successful tech company tick. Decision making at FrontStream is also entirely top-down. As far as I can tell there is zero input from those of us in the trenches. Have ideas? Keep them to yourself, because management is not interested.

Even though the head count is only about 200, the company is extremely process heavy. Management really wants to be agile and move quickly, but they just cannot get out of their own way.

Finally, and most importantly. FrontStream's management just does not seem to value its employees. As far as they are concerned, the grunts just screw everything up and cost money. Dear management... it's not us, it's you!

    Advice to Management

Learn how to run a tech company. For the love of God, go get some intel from people on the ground before making decisions!

I have been working at FrontStream Payments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

FrontStream has brought together a solid group of well known fundraising and philanthropy products. It is in the process of integrating these to serve the non-profits and company CSR groups in a very unique way. The company introduced new leadership earlier in the year and it has had a positive impact, most notably on culture as well as vision and focus. The company's leadership and backers are genuinely committed to providing the resources and environment for employees that want to help take on the opportunity of bringing an integrated company to the market. For people who are interested in helping to build a company that really makes a difference, this is a good place to be.

    Cons

Bringing companies together is definitely hard work and adds complexity to the business and people roles. It involves merging teams, technology and all kinds of other things. There are different challenges than companies that have just a single product - these also provide unique opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Stay focused on the vision. Communicate the vision to employees and customers. Listen to employees and customers. Continue to invest in growth.

I worked at FrontStream Payments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company was built on providing non-profit solutions that can help them raise more money. Feel good feeling when you come into work.

    Generous PTO

Giving products away for free in the Marketplace

    Cons

New Management but No Changes Made. Bill has come in and has alienated himself amongst the staff and mid-level management. He has had several years worth of experience in the non-profit space but left or was thrown out of each previous company before their peek.

Arsenal preached that they would be more forthcoming in talking about things going on and also provide upwards mobility to staff. This was a lie to insure people didn't quit immediately.

Customers are leaving in droves and major clients have left due to account management ran by people that shouldn't be able to run a k-mart or McDonalds. Rather play the blame game than get anything done.

There is no inbound leads. All leads generated are done through sales efforts. Marketing and Product never wants to release a timeline or calender as they know they want to BS upper management and sales.

    Advice to Management

Your most experienced sales people will leave if you do not fix things quickly. Be definitive and give a timeline to your staff. Either change leadership in Marketing or hire more staff.
