      Don’t work for them

      Pros

You get paid pretty well but you need to go back and forth with Human Resources.

      Cons

This his a horrible company to work for. They love to preach about their “culture “ but it’s all lies. They do not care about regular people they only care for high dollar clients and the employees who bring in those clients. HR department is very spiteful I attempted to refer my spouse as a part timer and unfortunately we were bot going to be able to make ends meet with a part time salary and respectfully declined the offer. Months later when we were at a better place she applied for the same position and was told she did not qualify. It was a entry level part time teller positions with no experience needed, and she’s been in finance for 3 years? They would rather keep horrible employees around who do no work and are very rude to customers and employees properly discipline them or get them out. Good employees are overlooked for promotions all the time for “tenured” employees. I was recently wrongly terminated for a verbal altercation with one of those lazy horrible employees who has in the past been reported to HR . I applied for unemployment and was denied. This is after I came in early left late worked OT, came in during COVID, when said bad employee would have a “family emergency”, came during multiple power outages, AC problems, sewage and plumbing problems.

      Great bank to work for

Aug 30, 2021 - Personal Banker II in Austin, TX

      Pros

      - Actually care about their employees - Good incentives - “Open door” environment - You have goals instead of quotas. As long as you actually try you’re not going to be penalized for not reaching a monthly goal - Pay is competitive - Top management (San Antonio) is awesome!

      Cons

      - It’s still a bank - Vacations days have to be given by February and only one personal banker can be off at a time - Different groups of branches inside the Houston market all seem to follow different rules and standards (to an extent) because it’s really up to group’s manager. Example: overtime opportunities are available in some groups, but in others you have to shave that time during the week or you have to work at least one Saturday a month while in another group as long as you find someone to cover for you. - Not many opportunities or options for growth.

      Pros

Frost Culture has improved over past decade proving to catch up with competition. Lots of room for advancement given the right departments, leadership/mentors, and management.

      Cons

Extreme lack of management in all areas. High level upper management never seems to get involved which ultimately has a domino effect to supervisors, department managers, and team leads. Management knows who is going where and has clear favorites. Most supervisors tend to do comparisons amongst department members which is very discouraging. I should also note even though advancement is a consistent conversation, a lot of supervisors will ultimately hinder progress or reassignment regardless of effort or requests and applications to move to different job positions.

Great time but not a beneficial experience

      Pros

Pay is competitive for the financial industry, tenured employees are very friendly and love to help new employees adapt. Training and development staff are amazing

      Cons

Management is uninvolved and entitled. Bankers are “encouraged” to make decisions such as who they open accounts for/ how to handle special situations. However, “it takes two to say no” at Frost meaning you always go through management before giving a customer a decision they don’t want. My problem with this practice is that it is never the branch manager to tell the customer no. Bankers do a majority of customer communication. Integrity is a core value but managers aren’t held to it because they don’t like to get blood on their hands which seems kind of backwards that you would have a lower position communicate a decision made by someone in a higher role. Managers “worked from home” during COVID. Mine was out of town several weeks so even if they were needed at the branch, they were unavailable. Other financial institutions have business bankers or small business specialist who specifically transact in business accounts. Frost has “business bankers” but really they’re just business partners because personal bankers do all their work for them. Business bankers even have assistants/admins who are not authorized to make account changes, So they do everything that is on a business bankers job description. Personal bankers, tellers and admins carry the bank on their backs.

      Pros

I've worked at a couple of banks and the leaders in this area were by far the best. Very professional, understanding and on top of things. I never felt like they played favorites.

      Cons

On the other hand the co-workers were always gossiping, never on task or always with an attitude. No maternity for PT
