I worked at Fry's Electronics part-time for less than a year

    Pros

A good place to flex your basic tech support muscles. Very good employee discount. Room to advance, what with the high turnover. Lots of hours around the holidays. All in one day, on occasion.

    Cons

You've gotta be friends with your supers, or they won't give you tasks to complete. Or send you the shift schedule. Or tell you when you've been volunteered for extra days.

    Pros

10 % employee discount, clean outdated office, Easy job, no room for advancement, quiet work place, no dogs, no pets, no free food.

    Cons

Windows xp desktops, really?, they would just crash in the middle of a call with the customer still on the line. No tech support department? Was sent home on my first day because i was not in a white polo shirt. Good luck trying getting a hold of store staff.

I worked at Fry's Electronics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It depends on the department you get assigned to. Some departments like Audio Video, Appliances, and Computers are paid by commission only. Other sales departments get hourly + commission Promotion is easy if you are either hard working or been in the company for a while and they don't have anyone else to promote. Great employee discounts on merchandise It's an easy retail job One hour lunches Diverse workforce

    Cons

You get paid leaves after 1 year of working. Dental and health benefits after 6 months, if I remember correctly Still getting paid minimum as a management trainee even if you're basically doing the same thing as the supervisor Store is understaffed so most likely you will be doing more stuff (commission based only salespeople have to stock merchandise, do cycle counts, etc) The company has been struggling a lot recently so expect a cut on hours. The commission per item sold has gone done drastically in just 2 years. They won't hire new people so sometimes you have to work more than 5 days/40 hours on the busy holiday season. Lots of customers who abuse the return policy. Lots of open box items that are hard to sell (sometimes damaged and incomplete but management will still make you sell it with a discount)

I worked at Fry's Electronics part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The employee discount is occasionally good. You get paid on time... 99% of the time.

    Cons

    - Technicians are paid just above minimum wage. - Upper management is kept insulated from the conditions in the store, leading to policies that negatively impact the workplace. - Employees are forced to submit to a "mandatory voluntary" search through their personal belongings before exiting the store. This is also the case should they visit a location other than the one they are employed at. - The paystubs often fail to list accrued benefits including vacation and sick time. - Technicians are often co-opted for deliveries because the sales associates are not encouraged to check the schedule first. - Despite the low pay, technicians are expected to repair a vast array of devices, which as of recently includes iPhones. -Benefits such as sick time can take nearly a month to be paid after the request. - No raises. Ever. They will never renegotiate your wages. However, they are more than happy to reduce the marginal "commission" they paid the technicians should the minimum wage in the store's city increase.

I have been working at Fry's Electronics part-time

    Pros

Learn a lot about the latest tech, friendly staff, decent employee discount.

    Cons

No employee appreciation, horrible hours, terrible pay, random change of work hours, weird 8.5 hr shifts with 1 hour lunch breaks, insufficient training, unfair commission policies. The one thing your salary depends on is how much warranty you can sell.
