I have been working at Fry's Food part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Being around people interested in beer/wine. Wonderful atmosphere in new store! Good hours and weekly pay is great! Friendly store environment. Upper management supportive and attentive!

    Cons

Required to have open availability for part time work at minimum wage. Turn is high because of this-most can't afford to just live on 10-20 hours...Utilize a workforce management scheduling system that allows flexibility in scheduling/availability. We are missing out on qualified people by not allowing some people to have limited availability. Plenty of great candidates have full time week day jobs but would gladly provide excellent night & weekend (peak time) needs!
Also-"select a schedule" doesn't make sense, the most productive people should be scheduled 1st, we shouldn't reward people with lots of hours because they were the 1st one hired. Schedules should be written based on performance and productivity which will only help the store!

I have been working at Fry's Food part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health benefits after 1 year. Only need to keep a 20-hour work week to maintain them. Plenty of hours to be accrued if you're flexible. Room for advancement of course.

    Cons

Slow pay increases, although near the norm for large corporations. Not many other cons, unless you simply don't enjoy serving, assisting others.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your fellow employees often. Customer service can be draining at times.

    Pros

A great, stable company with tremendous opportunities for advancement at Fry's and the parent company: Kroger. You can also transfer around the country.

    Cons

24/7 on-call the higher you advance, but that comes with the territory when take on more responsibility. Very task-driven. Inter-department communication can be improved upon.

    Advice to Management

Continue to Feed the Human Spirit of both the Associates and customers.

I have been working at Fry's Food full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I started at Fry's as a Pharmacy Tech Trainee. After 6 months of on-the-job training and independent study I was able to take and pass my Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. The flexibility of my schedule allowed me to pursue and complete a degree in Nursing. This is a great place for someone looking to gain work experience and earn money while going to Nursing school. I graduated without student loan debt.

    Cons

The biggest concern I have the size of the pharmacy. It is very busy and there is not a lot of room to move around safely. Aside from that, I work with a great team of compassionate and hard-working pharmacists and technicians. The customers/patients are very nice and I have enjoyed providing exceptional care to then over the past 5 years. I will continue to choose to shop at Fry's for all my grocery and pharmacy needs even after I transition into my new career as a Registered Nurse.

    Advice to Management

The Pharmacy in Maricopa, AZ could really use a remodel and expansion. It is very small considering the number of prescriptions we fill and the number of people working at a time (6 techs and 2 pharmacists during the day). We are always running into each other or tripping over our medication orders while trying to sort and put it away. It would also be nice to wear scrubs as a Pharmacy Technician versus the smocks currently worn. There is more pockets to keep pens and would look neater and more professional.
