I worked at Fry's Food full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation is good for retail. There are a lot of good people who work there. Lots of Opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Year after year sales and customer counts go up. Store conditions and expectations also go up. Labor to get the job done continues to go down. In 8 years I worked countless 60+ hour work weeks to get the job done (compensation is based on 50 hours). Upper management comes in to walk the store and is usually disappointed with conditions. There is only so much one can do and it is never enough.

    Advice to Management

Advice to upper management...stop beating down your salaried store management. You say "your people are great" is one of your 4 keys. But your actions and words generally do not reflect that. Start treating your people better.

I have been working at Fry's Food full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Accurate work hours reflected on paycheck.
Nice, hardworking co-workers, good to work with.
    Lenient on being late.

    Cons

AZ minimum wage went up to $10.
That is a $1.95 pay increase for new hires.
Those that have had their small pay raises,
are now close to the same wage as new hires.
Workers that have been there for years, top out somewhere
    around $16-$17 (old contract).
New hires in the past five years have had their top pay reduced to $13.55 (new contract)
with only a 30-cent increase when new AZ minimum wage hike went into effect (2017)
(old contract) did not get the 30-cent increase.
By the year 2020 when the minimum wage goes to $12, expect the (new contract)
to be making a max pay of only two dollars above new hires.
As a (new contract) worker, it takes years (guessing around five) to get top pay
    if working full time.
The union that supposed to represents you, failed at negotiating a decent top wage.
Union representatives don’t even know what people make.
If you sign up for the Union, you have pay for a year. Don’t waste your money.
Takes a year to get any personal days/vacation/sick.
One year for Medical insurance/18 months for Dental.
Back room messy/ Lot of work for low wages/ Department hours reducing every year/ expect to cashier all the time If you work in departments like GM/Floral/Produce/Liqueur.
Scheduled hours are always changing. Some days opening shifts then to closing.

    Advice to Management

Upper elitist of the company should give some incentive to keep working here,
and to offer something to some of us that has good ideas. As a company you will lose
to future company's like (Amazon Go) because they have vision and your blind.

I worked at Fry's Food full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This can be an easy job if you are somebody who enjoys a very routine job.

    Cons

You do the same thing every single day. When co-workers would call out I would have to handle all the responsibilities with no help then get yelled at by management when if I fell behind.

    Advice to Management

Help schedule enough people so 1 person doesn't always get stuck on a shift by themselves.

    I worked at Fry's Food full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits, you'll need them

    Cons

Chauvinism, retaliation and no time for a life, Fry's foods lie to you to your face and if they get caught they play the role of " I don't recall that ever happening" If you like being treated like cattle you'll love it there,

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and then do the proper thing to correct issues instead of ignoring them.
