I have been working at Fry's Food part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My initial training to be a cashier was amazing!! Spot on. All questions and concerned In the begging were answered.

    Cons

When I trained for a fuel clerk position all they had me do was computer training and tests. Then two night shifts/training on the station. I was never sent for formal training. This is DISGRACEFUL!! When I had a huge oil spill I was guessing on how to properly clean it up because I did not know what half of the clean up stuff was or how to use it. Though my initial trainer told me due to this lack of training I can not be written up or fired if something were to happen I know this store would find a way.

On top of that the particular store stresses that we should be getting our breaks where I am lucky if I get 1 or 2 breaks a week when I’m working out at the station so when I return inside when I’m done closing or end of shift I was staying and forcing the store to give me my break. Then top management in store came back and told us station clerks that if we continued doing that we would be written up and eventually fired.

    Advice to Management

    Fix these problems!

I worked at Fry's Food part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Associates are nice, you get paid every Thursday and all associates get bonus checks every quarter depending how we do on customer surveys and company numbers.

    Cons

Oh! This one I will not surgar coated. The work schedule is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. You get to pick you're own work week schedule, including choosing you're days off. It goes by Seniority base on employees hiring date. BUT 90% of time you don't get the ones you wanted, NOT GUARANTEED. The management change You're schedule with you noticing. You want sundays off, well too bad, they will require you to work, it's the busiest day at fry grocery. So don't be surprised. Even if it's you're religious day, THEY DONT CARE. Time is money to them and it's just business. Also Don't even bother contacting the union, Don't even sign up for one! They'll rob you're pay check weekly with union dues, And whenever you need them, they won't be there to help. You're paying them for doing nothing. Also last to say, you don't get enough hours. Especially in the summer time you'll get like less than 20 hrs, THATS IT NOTHING HIRE.

    Advice to Management

STOP MICROMANAGING, you want the employees to stay, then let us do our job and you do yours. And treat everybody the same, quit with you're favoritism. Last to say show appreciation to you're employees, it means more than you just giving us customer service stickers on our badges.

I have been working at Fry's Food part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, Union membership optional, automatic wage increases, ability to move departments and train for other positions (very flexible in that way).

    Cons

Managers get moved around, A LOT. Most departmental associates must chose their schedules/shift based on seniority, which can be difficult when you are new.

    Advice to Management

Leave instruction behind on who should be next in line for promotions or viewed for extra training.

    Pros

Great benefits ,401k ,pension, vision and dental .a car giveaway every three months. Special events offered to employees. Discount tickets.

    Cons

Communication is very poor. Leadership is very poor. If you are not in management there is no respect for you. Very very hard to move up in the company. The only way is to know someone or if you're good looking.Frys is getting rid of all the old timers and trying to bring in young people like right out of college that has no retail experience at all.

    Advice to Management

    Always remember our core values.
