I have been working at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I love working at Fuji! The people I interact with are intelligent and caring. Management wants us to grow but, obviously, you have to put in the effort! We have a great vacation plan, 401K, HSA incentives, produce box, $massages, wellness day, food trucks, employee wifi, birthday celebrations once a month, really the list goes on! I have worked places where I never met my managers boss, at Fuji you are not just a...

    Cons

Some people will always be negative, they work here too....

    Advice to Management

Maybe try less spreadsheets and more getting to know how your employees work. We are all different and can be more efficient using other styles.

I have been working at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, most employees below director level are great, plenty of fringe benefits (but most aren't that great anyway)

    Cons

Terrible management that's more concerned with filling out Google sheets than actual work; project managers don't do their jobs, so technical folks have to make schedules, correspond with clients, make presentations, etc. Company cheaps out on productivity tools (i.e., have to use Gmail because Outlook is just too expensive, Google Hangouts instead of Webex, etc.) so everything is much more difficult than at other companies;...

    Advice to Management

Employees could actually do productive work if they didn't spend all day filling in 20 different Google sheets (too cheap for Excel)

I have been working at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits and perks, such as 401k and little things like employee wifi.

    Cons

Reluctant to change, some management is not open to change and keeping making the same mistakes over and over and will not take ownership of their mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Personnel management by spreadsheet is ridiculous

I have been working at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are lots of opportunities to do things and grow, the people are friendly (mostly), the work is interesting. Lots of holidays. People get promoted frequently, albeit in place of people who have left. Managers give 1to1 meetings every month (in theory). Everything is well organised. Lots and lots of formal training. The company is growing with lots of new programs and projects. There are new sites in Denmark,...

    Cons

There aren’t enough projects per head in R&D, so when you’re not on a project there’s very little to do. In my department people compete to be given things to do. People seem to make work for themselves by constructing overcomplicated systems for things like lab write ups, Quality, EHS, 5S, all of which seems a bit excessive at times. As with every work place there is an amount of office politics. Some people are quite...

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting pushy staff. Share the workload more evenly. Pay staff a better wage.

    Cons

Progression can be slow Sometimes it's too quiet

    Advice to Management

Value your staff that you already have and make more opportunities for career advancement through further education higher than a Bachelor's.
