I worked at Fulton Financial full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked at Fulton for three years and the company is stable and well respected in the Lancaster PA area. It can be a great place to work or an absolutely terrible place to work depending upon your department and supervisor. The company has good intentions, a nice but noisy work environment (cube farm), friendly co-workers, and decent benefits (salary is low so if you go there you would cut your best deal when you are offered the job).

    Cons

Who knew that the banking business could be so stressful! No action plan and always in a state of crisis in the corporate HQ. We spent way too much time putting our fires and responding to last minute demands that really did not allow us to do our best work. Fulton needs to simplify and be more thoughtful about business goals. The inability to work remotely is so old fashioned - there seems to be a lack of trust among management to let team members work from home! There is a lot of talk about remote work but no plan of action ... of course some managers are able to work remotely while the rest of us were required to come in Mon thru Fri 8AM and work way past 5 PM to get the job done. Constant emailing by managers 24/7/365 also made the job very stressful. Forget about having a nice relaxing family vacation - if you are not checking your email from your phone, then you will be swamped and stressed when you return from your vacation. Overall, not a good experience and glad to have moved on in my career. I took a job at higher pay with reasonable expectations and better working schedule. My new company is fair and truly cares about me.

    Advice to Management

Get your priorities straight and realize that all employees deserve to work reasonable hours and have a life outside of Fulton.

I have been working at Fulton Financial full-time

    Pros

Company is developing a strategic vision and has yet to implement it fully so lots to do in terms of change management but management has its eye on the ball and is moving in the right direction.

    Cons

too much reliance on consensus thinking for large strategic issues which makes the bank slow to react and appear risk averse. Does not pay for performance

    Cons

Pay, few opportunities to advance, short-staffed

    Advice to Management

Stop putting band aids on problems and resolve issues for long term solutions, offer more opportunities for internal growth/promotion, review the yearly/promotion increases (pay employees for what they are worth/contribute)

I have been working at Fulton Financial full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good training for people early in their career. The employees are, for the most part, very nice. Stable jobs in an unstable employment market.

    Cons

Pay is very low compared to industry standards. Benefits consistently are being cut. Not enough trained people in key departments. They do not promote internally, and once you are in, your pay raises are very very limited.

    Advice to Management

Look to develop the talent that you have within instead of bringing in people from the outside and paying them more than you offer your internal candidates.

    Pros

I love my direct manager and my staff. My manager has given me the tools to succeed.

    Cons

Upper management is not supportive. No room for growth, stagnant atmosphere. Annual raises are pennies for those who work really hard, and there's no reward.

    Advice to Management

Be more in tune with the "temperature" of your employees. Compensate your employees accordingly.

I have been working at Fulton Financial full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, friendly employees, education reimbursement

    Cons

Very limited career advancement, management looks at outside candidates prior to internal candidates for most positions, low salaries compared to other mid-sized banks, work-life balance depends on your department

    Advice to Management

Foster the talent you have and train to advance
