    Pros

Decent work life balance. Variety of aesthetics and projects to work on. You can learn a lot on how NOT to manage employees here.

    Cons

Upper management is horrible. So much micromanaging, VPs are stuck in old ways, no trust, complete lack of structure, underpaid, false promises on raises and promotions, the list goes on and on.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent on projects and don't withhold information. Trust your younger staff to understand and research trends that appeal to customers. If you have to ask what Instagram or Pinterest is, there is really no hope.

Working for a company that is owned overseas can be challenging.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your people more

I have been working at Fung Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Each division is run like a separate entity so there is a lot of opportunity for professional growth.

    Cons

Company is risk averse to a fault. One of the core values of business is entrepeneurship but completely inconsistent with the company's model as a whole. LF succeeded originally because it was opportunistic, right place at the right time with the Chinese Sourcing Revolution. It's safe to assume that a company that made a fortune off of cheap labor will treat all of it's employees with that same model.

    Advice to Management

Take risks. You may have made a fortune being in the right place at the right time but your model is dying rapidly as the world becomes increasingly mobile. Also, with ratings systems (e.g. Amazon) becoming increasingly important in the retail market, high quality is a must. Invest in much better quality control.

I worked at Fung Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great internship program, perfect balance of working in your specific department but also getting to know all of the other departments through Lunch & Learns and networking events

    Cons

Depending on what department you are placed in, you may have less work or more boring work than other co-interns who are in different departments

    Advice to Management

Allow interns to work in different departments so that they can get experience doing all different types of things
