    I worked at Furmanite full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity to work from coast to coast.

    Cons

Mandatory travel can keep you away from home for 4-12 weeks at a time. Training is not readily available so it is hard for technicians to get promoted.

    Advice to Management

    Follow your established training program.

    Pros

good money and travel. they are very willing to send you all over the world. They pay all travel expenses and make sure you have a nice place to stay.

    Cons

the experience level of employees is stereotyped to one specific task. If you freeze piping then that's all you do. Hot tap is the same. I've worked along side of guys that called themselves "valve technicians" but have only unbolted and bolted them to pipe. they don't know how to take them apart or diagnose problems with the internals. They don't know the nomenclature of the parts or hoe to find them on a drawing. there is a lot of hiring of friends experienced or not.

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the employees who produce and want to learn. Ask what they know. just because they have done it for 20 plus years or learned it in the navy does not mean its right in the civilian world. We have drawings, Manuals, Guidelines and Standards that the Petroleum, Nuclear and Fossil industry adhere to.

I have been working at Furmanite (Less than a year)

    Pros

Professional Office environment and staff except for the IT leadership and Management

    Cons

I was lead to believe that Furmanite would remain in the Dallas area. Shortly after I began working there the company leadership told all office employees that we were moving to Houston.
The CIO was horrible to say the least. He had little to no office professionalism and would scream obscenities at his team even if we were following the instructions he would setup.
The only time I had a normal conversation with him was the day I was interviewed. The rest of the time he would yell at the team and act like he was too good to talk to you if you passed by him in the office.
I hope they have a better team in Houston. The team morale in Dallas was AT BEST bitter and resentful.

    Advice to Management

Get a better CIO if you have the same guy from Dallas.

I worked at Furmanite full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quality company, quality benefits. Seem to be growing fast in the inspection industry. Easy to deal with corporate office.

    Cons

There really weren't any cons to working for this company.

I have been working at Furmanite full-time

    Pros

The atmosphere is fairly laid back, and you can work at your own pace.

    Cons

Management is driving FTS into the ground, projects are all over budget and behind schedule as management pointlessly charges hours to clients while the actual people doing the work are leaving in droves.

    Advice to Management

Stop driving away your employees and stop antagonizing all of your clients.
