I worked at Future Electronics (More than a year)

    Pros

Critical size offering employees good business exposure
Opportunities to grow in some teams
    Competent/efficient staff
    Good benefits

    Cons

Excessive workload (and upper management is trying to cut staff even more)
    Low salary
In some teams there is very little room to grow

    Advice to Management

FE does not produce parts it just moves parts from point A to B.
Its success lies in service quality.
Staff is generally overloaded with work, procedures are not updated often because lines managers don’t even have time to stop and look at the big picture. As a result, service quality is impacted negatively. So management may want to think about what Future’s USP will be in the long term (is being a stocking distributor enough against Amazon?).

I worked at Future Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people (non-management) are very nice and helpful. It's a little anglo community in the West Island, one of the few employers where French is not an issue, so you get a lot of nice people, many of whom moved to Montreal from elsewhere.

The cafeteria food is delicious and the gym is really nice. The location is good if you're a West Islander.

    Cons

Management seems to be composed of people who worked their way up by either poisoning others' careers or who curried personal favors. They don't seem to know what they're doing and try to impose their will using fear and intimidation more than competence and inspiration.

No flexible hours, no working from home, no tech support from this century (or at least decade). Upper management is full of nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Try inspiring your staff to work harder by being competent and friendly as well. And if someone stays until 7 PM every night, that's not a reason for everyone to stay late, that's because he doesn't like his wife.

I have been working at Future Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good location, good cafeteria

    Cons

Company is cutting back so no chance to get any training, you will be expected to do a lot with nothing. Used to be a good place to work if you were in IT but now there is no new projects, just keep old, out dated technology running with no resources or tools. Company this size is running on old, dated hardware and software, is a joke. Stay away from IT unless you have no other options.

    Advice to Management

There is nothing management can do if the owner is too cheap to provide proper resources to IT.

I worked at Future Electronics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Note that everyone says the same thing basicly...nice cafeteria, gym, good people and decent benifits. True.
The "good people" for sure are not manegment. It is the low level employees who are nice only. The cafeteria is not that cheap (supposedly subsidized) and gym is on your own time.

    Cons

Manegement are primarily narcissistic, self centered, very mean ,lieing well paid aholes.
The vast majority of workers are severly underpaid, overworked, stressed like hell, and treated like garbage. Future is well known for being called a "revolving door", a "pressure cooker". HR hires people who are desperate hence will accept lower wage and work like hell for the multi billionaires that run this place. Tons of money towards maintenance of building and infrastructure....zero to his people. Horrendous parking. Nepotism. And yes certain people get favours over others like parking privelages etc.

    Advice to Management

They have had all the advice in the world. They harass, condemn insult their people. Rule through fear. If employees complain to HR they find themselves soon without a job eventually. HR are super nice but they are controlled by owner and son.
