I worked at Future Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working at Future Electronics sometimes reminds me of the old army commercial that said it was the toughest job I’ll ever love. For the most part, this is a great company to work for. I really like the fact that people are held accountable. If you believe in a work environment where everyone is expected to pull their own weight, then this is the right company for you. Teamwork is strongly emphasized and people who think more highly of themselves than their teammates do not thrive here.

    Cons

    No on-site day care.

I have been working at Future Electronics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good location in the west island of montreal. Free parking, benefits and a well run company for the most part.

    Cons

Longer hours (8:30- 5:30) for worse pay the a competing company. Accounts seem random and unorganized. Many unhappy past customers.

    Advice to Management

Attract better quality people, by offering better wages.

    Pros

    Good callouges. Compensation is ok.

    Cons

Everthing is challenges here. This is the worst company to work for. They will hire you by saying "HIRE NOT TO FIRE" .But they will fire you after 5 -6 months. Once they will fire you they wont give you notice period also. But if you want to resign, they they will make your life hell.Firstly they will try to conveyance you offering you different position in some other department with less salary. But once to decide to go or leave they they will start torturing you every time. They will ask the bond- amount ,2 months salary, also your LTA. See the culture guys they can fire but you cant leave. Once you leave the company your job is not over, you have to keep follow up for your PF For 6-10 months. Many People have not yet got their pf amount though they left before a year. Plz guys dnt join this company.

    Advice to Management

    Change your attitude.

I worked at Future Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great salary if you can get top paying accounts in sales.
Friendly people in general. Good cafeteria.
    In office gym.
Great place to learn (the hard way though)
Some career advancement opportunity (reservations on this point)
    Excellent but expensive benefits package.

    Cons

Management asked to micro manage way too much.
This leads to very depressed employee morale, people are overworked from all the forms they need to fill out, real work that generates results and dollars is somewhat neglected due to this aspect.

A very stressful environment mainly due to bully style management. Threats are normal. It's as though management lacks creativity on how to stimulate their employees and resorts to the same tactics by cutting employee salaries. Most rely heavily on their commission cheques and this management sees it fit to penalize employees for not meeting unrealistic quotas by cutting into their earnings some more. Sad.

Training isn't the norm. Most of those who gain success learn on the fly and from colleagues.
Management comes up with very poor business practises. There's a definite lack of direction as all departments never seem to work together. There's really no synergy between important decision makers.

Processes are broken and completely outdated. The workload is difficult because of this. To do anything, you need to follow it through way too many departments. This leads to many conversations which can result into confrontations, this seems to happen on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

Potential to make Future Electronics a world class organization is very achievable.

    Take the following three steps:
    1. Stop all the micro-managing and focus your energy on creating a well defined procedural guide so that everyone has a reference point to know how to do their job.
    2. Increase training in the correct aspects of sales. Focus on time/email management, email/phone etiquette and developing active listening skills.
    3. Listen to your people, put yourselves in their shoes and really hear them out. There's a ton of highly intelligent people and their ideas are under-utilized.

Please realize that the potential is enormous, and if managed differently it would likely lead to different results. Funny that the first time I ever heard this expression is @ Future Electronics: "Crazy is doing things the same way over and over again and expecting different results" So... if you can't follow your own advice with the management style, then... enough said.

    Thank you.
