    Pros

Privately held, more stable and less lay offs than our competition. Pay better than most. Wonderful people, who have been with the company for many years. Great training. The employees really learn how to sell versus the competition who sell just by price.

    Cons

Micro managed, ridiculous amount of focus lines at once, line card is not as broad as competition. Employees are overworked and over stressed. Corporate management is disconnected. No room for advancement in the field.

    Advice to Management

The office atmosphere is negative and toxic, office politics are allowed to run rampant. A positive working environment is a must and this is a direct result of management.

I have been working at Future Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co workers are family - long term many over 20 years with company
Good Insurance and stability of company strong
innovative - original owner is instrumental in creating programs unique to the industry and making them successful

    Cons

Tend to lose lines that are critical to revenue especially with design programs you invest in
Corporate focus changes too quickly - new initiatives constantly keep your head spinning
lots of reports - spreadsheets are too many columns need to be more concise to get results

    Advice to Management

Re engage in the concept of "Delight the customer" - we are a distributor and customer relationships do matter - get upper management out to meet customers - it is customers that keep the doors open and customers can get products elsewhere if they feel that their wants/needs are not met

I worked at Future Electronics full-time

    Pros

Good team members, willing to help and work with you, direct management is on your side.

    Cons

High management doesn't have realistic expectations of what happens 'on the street' in terms of sales. Very tough industry

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the feet on the street, focus on helping sales members do their job instead of odd ball initiatives that make no financial sense for sales people and are just to please partners.

    Pros

Privately held means not having to react to shareholder expectations. Can take a long view to secure business. Good management a branch offices.

    Cons

Being number three has disadvantages when dealing with suppliers who will gravitate to the largest distributor. Centralized sales support in Canada can be difficult for local customers.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. The inertia in the larger distributors can cause customer fatigue - keep emphasis on customer service and communication.

I worked at Future Electronics (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay potential with incentives if you figure out how to work within their system. Work from home and flexibility of schedule if you have children. Great local management in Boston. Interesting applications depending on the customer.

    Cons

Major disconnect between local markets and corporate on goals. Corporate has a one model for all mentality. Also corporate is very micro-managing and measure you on EVERYTHING. Depending on your role, you may be technically covering a very broad range of electronics (FET to LED to displays to micro to FPGA). Lastly, if you are outspoken or challenge management decisions or policies in ANY way, not for you.

    Advice to Management

Just because an employee challenges what you say doesn't mean he's negative. I've worked for managers that saw this as a strength. If all comments are critical or not buying in, yes that's negative.
