I worked at FutureFuel as an intern

    Pros

The people at this facility are amazing. Very down to earth and always willing to help each other out.

    Cons

The location is a bit unfavorable, depending on what you're looking for.

    Pros

Original facility was built in the 70s to manufacture photographic chemical during Eastman Kodak dominance. The facility became a specialty chemical manufacturer where some of the best chemistry was practiced. A large number of highly skilled professional people became part of this small facility.

    Cons

Heavy-handed management style where focus is profit driven only. Many of the people who started this company are retiring or leaving. It will be interesting to see if their success is short-lived or legitimate.

    Advice to Management

It's actually hard to provide advice to management when it is controlled by one individual. The buck actually stops with him.

I worked at FutureFuel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company is really world class. They are focused on doing the right things with many very capable people. Was there for about 10 years and I sort of hated to leave.

    Cons

The biggest problem that I saw was that there was very little opportunity to advance in the company. If you hired in at the bottom of the organization, you could pretty well count on staying there regardless of qualifications or performance.

    Advice to Management

You have a great company with a great foundation. Maybe you could focus on giving more opportunities to talented people within the company.

  4. "Micromanagement by corporate officers made it impossible to successfully satisfy customers."

    I worked at FutureFuel full-time

    Pros

Site personnel are very easy to work with, knowledgable and hard working. Resources at the site, while being steadily downgraded by mismanagement, are still world class.

    Cons

Micromanagement by corporate officers caused significant disruption in the business. This is a public company that is run like a private one by one individual. The top executives within the coporation and the subsidiary are too weak to be effective.

    I worked at FutureFuel full-time

    Pros

High competency of employees with varied skills. Most employees have over ten years or more experience. Company offers up to 6 percent matching of 401k benefits and gives a bonus to employees on positive earnings.

    Cons

    Poorly managed, micro managed
    Public company basically privately owned
Employees are not considered one of their major investments
Safety and safe practices have declined
    Diversity of workforce is poor
No retirement package except through matching of 401k benefits
Employs too many family members outside normal hiring channels
Senior management has very little interaction with community

    Advice to Management

Hiring only "like-minded" people will only carry you so far. Only short-term results will be realized.
