I worked at G6 Hospitality full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When blackstone purchased accor north america, the times were swiftly changing from a wonderful working environment that had the entire corporate office gathering often so that everyone knew everyone.

    Cons

The blackstone acquisition predictably changed the entire company culture that the French-held Accor once provided into a new g6 of cutthroat thin-to-win model in order to sell the thing, g6, to some other hedge fund group. Several great people with years on the job -even well respected leaders who helped in the transition- were let go -at mostly the mid-levels- and took home a parting gift pink slip without even a moments' notice of warning.

    Advice to Management

You do need to listen and put egos aside. The experts who have measurable, even quantifiable records of getting things done, no matter their age, who pour their best given mental abilities to a given specific niche make you more when money; especially when you see them as assets rather than numbers. That won't show up on a Medallia score, but it is the Human element and a bit of support with actions and efforts that make all the difference.

    Pros

You get two extra holidays off than normal companies.

    Cons

Insanely low pay, low morale, a lot of blame-gaming, no ownership of responsibilities

    Advice to Management

You have to compete to retain talent or G6 will be gone in 5 years. Worst corporate structure ever.

I have been working at G6 Hospitality full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are nice, they let you work without breathing down your neck, flexible.

    Cons

The pay is a joke. In housekeeping you bust your rump to make these rooms look brand new, but the pay is minimum wage. Pay is every 2 weeks. Can barely scrape by.

    Advice to Management

Your housekeepers make your hotel what it is! Pay these people to meet your standards! You expect a lot and give so little. Go to a pattern bedspread! The grey and green stripe bedspreads show every stain and it looks bad on us to put our name on stained products but it’s all we have to work with.
