I have been working at GCA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The culture is great and the company is seriously invested in its young professionals. Deal flow is solid and everyone is busy.

    Cons

At times, the most junior team members will have to do mundane/boring tasks. This is to be expected at any bank.

    Advice to Management

I approve of management. Keep dedicating resources to new hires and making junior team members feel appreciated.

I have been working at GCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to the tech industry and tech modeling experience; good exit opps to venture capital (build lots of liquidation / operating models), other banks, and corp dev; great deal flow in the tech market right now

    Cons

Work primarily with private tech companies so less exposure to public to public M&A experience than at a bulge bracket

I have been working at GCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, senior engagement, and exposure to high quality transactions. Analysts are given considerable autonomy and take on high level of responsibility early on

    Cons

Could work on building up brand image

I have been working at GCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome access to senior leadership. Great senior bankers and lean deal teams. Great opportunity to learn from senior bankers (not as institutionalized as larger banks).

    Cons

Branding. Website could use an update. Maybe consider doing a name change as well.

    Advice to Management

Work on branding. Also do not know if hiring more senior bankers is the proper way to grow the business. Current Analyst to MD ratio is around 1:3.

I have been working at GCA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic people at all levels of the organization. Senior bankers come from premier firms, are very skilled, and deliver excent service and analysis to clients. Deal flow is very good, and clients are typically at exciting stages in their growth trajectory. Many opportunities to step up and value both internally and externally with clients.

    Cons

The firm is only 10 years old, so the brand is still developing.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, incredibly smart people, and money on par with the street. The hours are actually a little better than bulge bracket firms, but they still are kinda crappy.

    Cons

GCA Savvian's lack of brand recognition on the street hurts exit ops, but if you network right, this should not hurt you. Of course this is an i-bank and the hours suck, but you know this going into it.

    Advice to Management

Work on building a brand name for the firm!!!

I have been working at GCA full-time

    Pros

-Fantastic culture. Everybody is nice, it's easy to be staffed on a deal you'd like to work on, and as an analyst, you're not trapped into an industry that you don't like.
-Pretty good deal flow. The company has grown a lot (expanding into a new office in NY), so it's gotten better over the past few years.

    Cons

-The company should work on gender diversity.
-There's probably much more room for the company to take advantage of potential cross-border synergies
-The hours are pretty bad, but that's banking.

    Advice to Management

I don't think I have immediate advice to management, for the time being. Over the long term, continue to focus on work/life balance and gender diversity.

I have been working at GCA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really fun junior bankers, analysts and associates/VP's get on very well and do lots of fun things together. Compensation is better than many other banks as well. New HR leader is creating more initiatives for office socialization and really trying to increase perks.

    Cons

MD's and junior bankers are on different floors for the most part which creates a noticeable barrier in terms of interaction. MD's have "favorite" analysts and associates which means that certain bankers get to work consistently with certain MD's who may be known to produce great deals or MD's who put a heavy workload on bankers for deals that never seem to close. This really affects bonuses if you never get to work with a successful MD. No 401k matching.

    Advice to Management

Keep working on adding perks for junior bankers, give us the ability to work on deals that will close.
