I have been working at GCA Services full-time

    Pros

As an account manager, you can work without someone always peering over you shoulder. You can do your own thing. They check up on you from time to time to ensure you are doing you job, but you don't have to worry about them stalking you. Dental and Eye insurance is great.

    Cons

Medical insurance plans aren't that great. When it comes to budget, there isn't enough set aside or approved for new equipment.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to ordering new equipment and get better medical insurance plans.

I have been working at GCA Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Though the 2nd and 3rd shift crew are often aware, their direct supervisors and managers jump through hoops to shield them as much as possible from directives and comments left by upper management.

    Cons

Poor communication between upper and lower management.
Constant changes in work policies and procedure (often not announced).
Poor perks: no holiday pay (often required), no sick time, 5 vacation days after a year (no periodic increase), awful insurance
Low wages with little upward potential
    Low opportunity for advancement

    Advice to Management

I would suggest following through with what you promise and applying your policies in a fair and equitable manner. A little more appreciation shown to your employees could go a long way as well. Place more trust in your management team; that's what you hired them for. You may also want to show a bit more concern for the personal safety of your staff; leniency has it's limits.

    Pros

No direct supervision or a boss breathing down your neck.

    Cons

No help when needed, area manager was non existent.

I have been working at GCA Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy. You mop, you scrub, you wipe, change out trash bags, vacuum, clean toilets and urinals. There is benefits even for part time employees.

    Cons

The health insurance is kind of ridiculous. Just your most basic preventive care service. Not really a company you can get upward movement at. And switching from part time to full time? Forget it. Hours keep getting cut. Currently working 6 days a week just to get 23 hours. The money allowed for supplies is getting tighter.

    Advice to Management

Allow for more position openings especially full-time.

I worked at GCA Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers (who are also long gone).

    Cons

They like their "pets". I was let go for a trumped up, b.s. reason. And then I found out one of their pet employees now has my job. Well, you've been bought out and I hope your heads will roll. See how you like it.

I have been working at GCA Services full-time

    Pros

This would be an excellent job if not for the account manager.

    Cons

The account manager does not communicate well with staff.

    Advice to Management

Better communication for upper management would be immensely useful. Oftentimes things are not made clear.

I have been working at GCA Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job is easy, the work is good, the pay is good for this area. They have varying shifts so it works well with personal schedules. I love the work itself. GCA is very dedicated to employee health and safety.

    Cons

The supervisors, with some exceptions, are lazy, they don't check over buildings or tell employees what they can improve on in their buildings. Overall there is a lot the supervisors could do to help team morale and help their employees do better. The supervisors also don't train new employees they just have current employees train them, so if a building had bad habits, the new employees learn those habits.

    Advice to Management

Focus on what your employees strengths and weaknesses are. Pay closer attention to supervisors and what they are doing. Move current employees up the ladder, it makes them more dedicated to the company and their jobs and you see better work ethic.

I worked at GCA Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company went through serious restructuring during my time there, and what started off as a great place to work, changed quite quickly as people who were unfamiliar with the cleaning industry took charge and did not understand the logistics involved to ensure operational efficiency. Almost everyone within our region was let go, including managers that were really integral to their success. My understanding is that they lost most, if not all of their business thereafter.

    Cons

Benefits were incredibly expensive and salary was not up to par.

    Advice to Management

Your field managers are what ensure your accounts are successful. Appreciate them monetarily and support them with the resources they need -- business will flourish.
