Pros
Employees believe in the mission of the company and work very hard to achieve it. There is a strong sense of purpose in everything they do - always focused on safety and delivering for the customer. Really smart and caring colleagues who rally around one another.
Cons
Inefficient processes are being worked, but not quickly enough. Meeting culture persists - sometimes ~15 per day!

The best place I have ever worked!
Feb 5, 2015 - Fleet Data Specialist in Dallas, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work/Life balance is the best I have ever seen! Management is very understanding of any personal issues and work closely to help you as much as possible. The staff are incredibly friendly and greatly care about the things they and the company achieve.
Cons
The work is not the most stimulating, and can get slow at times making it difficult to progress through the day.

Pros
Excellent personal development and internal progression.
Cons
Some bureaucracy and red tape that is expected with a company as large as GE.

Interesting work but chronically understaffed
Dec 2, 2021 - Advanced Lead Engineer/Technologist in Evendale, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Interesting and challenging work on ground-breaking technologies.
Cons
Chronic understaffing and unrealistic development schedules can cause a stressful work environment. The company is placing more emphasis recently on 'diverse' hiring and promotion policies instead of merit-based policies.

Paying peanuts, expecting miracles

Big brand and company renome Company's gym (not always available though) Unique projects Opportunity to gain a huge amount of knowledge
Cons
Paying very poorly, expecting miracles Unrealistic expectations and deadlines Minimum support from management Unprofessional senior coworkers paid 10x times more than you but they can't even use microsoft outlook properly Very stressful & toxic environment to work in Minimum opportunities for carrier progress (only for a few pre-chosen 'favourite' ones) Zero possibilities to negotiate any pay raise despite on overtaking job duties way above what was agreed & contracted

Pros
- Good work / life balance. - Strong leadership vision by John L. Flannery (seems as if the company is now on an upward trajectory). - Lots of data available, and lots of very skilled workers. - Appears to be a strong culture of promoting from within.
Cons
- Quite bureaucratic and slow moving. - IT systems can feel like you're fighting against them. - Sometimes difficult to know who to ask questions to. - Average to below average pay across the board.

Really great place to intern, not hiring much full time
Dec 3, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Incredible opportunity to work on projects that will be in use within the company for years Ability to intern at a different location each rotation and learn different parts of the business
Cons
They are not taking very many interns full time after graduation. My managers were shocked that I did not get a full-time offer after my last rotation (they aren't in control of it). They told me that with where the company is at right now, they can't take anyone on into design positions outside of the Edison program.

From most admired to least desirable
Oct 27, 2012 - Human Resources Leader in Cincinnati, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Variety of business units, people are friendly, make good products, Engineers are very smart.
Cons
The recruiting process is outdated. Managers and company believes that experienced candidates will drop what they are doing just for the GE name. No bonus for mid career candidates even if they come from a company that offers bonus at manager level. Relocation not enough, many people can't afford to take a loss on their home or cover the expenses not covered by relocation. Too much reliance on contractors and centralized service center. HR also does not give all details about benefits to candidates. For example: must meet out of pocket deductible before cost share kicks in. This can be detrimental to experienced candidates who have spouse and children.
