I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty to do. The role is under-sourced and not understood by the business. The role is key yet not understood by the company. GE Healthcare only knows or values coders.

    Cons

    Benefits well below standard.
    No possibility for advancement
    Changes direction monthly basis.
    Pay not competitive.
Company makes change for the sake of change. Forces down new ideas without assessing the impact or understanding how current work is being done.

    Advice to Management

ignore middle management they are only telling you what you want to hear. When possible safety or regulatory concerns are escalated middle management retaliates and shuts up employees. Creating a atmosphere of retribution for anyone who tries to do a good job.

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong focus on simplification, collaboration and continuous learning. For a large company, strives to be quick and nimble using Agile development practices and MVP product development mindset. Fun, challenging and interesting working in the healthcare domain, and strong roster of clinical talent on board to help drive strong product development.

    Cons

As with any large company, requires navigating some office and team politics and you will encounter the occasional low performer.

    Advice to Management

Continue the drive towards simplification within the business structure and continue to foster more transparency and culture of continuous feedback.

I worked at GE Healthcare (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great teamwork at the field level.
    - Excellent benefits.

    Cons

    - Extremely toxic environment
    - Lots of talk about putting the customers first but actions do not match the words.
    - Field sales team often forced to push customers too hard to sign contracts in order to make quarterly numbers.
    - Putting extreme pressure to sign end of quarter deals often damages customer relationships but senior management doesn't care about the impact on customer relationships/satisfaction.
    - Hostile work environment at mid-management level. If manager has the right executive relationships, their unprofessional behavior is ignored.
    - Company brags that only the toughest survive at GE.

    Advice to Management

    - Pay attention to mid-level managers who are toxic, hostile and unprofessional regardless of their executive relationships.
    - Stop damaging customer relationships by forcing deals to sign at quarter end.
    - Take immediate and significant action to improve KLAS ratings.

I worked at GE Healthcare as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Didn't work on "intern project", interns will work on actual products. Other interns are very friendly. I was so blessed to have two great managers in a row, and I had a great team this last year. It is also the best way to get into a GE Leadership Program. In software a fair percentage of your team might work from home and your manager might invite you to do that as well sometimes. There are some teams that have amazing chemistry and are very inviting to interns.

    Cons

Office was quiet. I have heard negative reviews about other managers. Depending on your project you might want to put in more than 40hours a week, but you won't be paid for the OT. I don't feel my projects really challenged my skill set. Some teams have a higher percentage of people who work from home so you might be on your own for periods of time. (On the other hand if you are considering full time, you have the ability to work from home)

I have been working at GE Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting work. Get to work with healthcare institutions to improve their operations.
    Ok benefits.
    Good salary.
    Good training.
    GE name has some cache.

    Cons

Leadership, specifically CEO ,GMs/managing principals are half-wits. Believe they are experts in healthcare operations and consulting, however, there isn't a one with actual clinical experience.
Position themselves to clients as "trusted advisors", but too obtuse to realize they are seen as used car salesmen.
Botched engagements, products with no customers and no accountability at the top. Probably only a matter of time before they jettison the entire organization out of GE Healthcare, since it only generates a tiny fraction of GE Healthcare's overall revenue.

    Advice to Management

They're only salespeople and not intelligent enough to understand, so why bother? I've already got another offer, so I'm out.
